In no other episode to date, are you able to hear the stark ideological differences between our intrepid hosts, Glenn and Grant, and things get a little spicy. At one point, Glenn shushes Grant as they unravel the implications and impacts of revering the mega-wealthy and the growing wage gap between the average person and those with an overabundance of wealth. Regardless of how both view the issue, both agree that the hardworking people who are driving our economy and doing the work should be highly regarded.  

Grant and Glenn talk about elections, political parties, and that whole democracy thing in this episode. This is the first taping after the 2022 midterm elections so they give the G & G Chat Factory(R) treatment and do a post mortem on the state and federal elections. They also spend some time discussing 3rd parties and the various tactics strategies used by the various parties and how they can woo reasonable people.  

In this episode, the boys discuss ham sandwiches and Banana Republics! Donald J. Trump is indicted and Glenn is especially heckly as they discuss porn star hush money, grand juries, and the importance of ensuring that all American citizens are treated the same under the law - no better, no worse.  They also touch on some aspects of the Trump administration, a booming deficit, and Glenn gives a quick breakdown of his Pacific Crest Trail plans. This episode was taped 4/1/2023 so there is hope that Trump does not face future indictments but those records would be classified at the time of this taping.

Science! Brain science that is. In this episode, Glenn and Grant discuss biological and sociological drivers that impact outrage and how our personal outrage is tapped into to influence opinions and how we spend our time and our money. The boys discuss pitfalls that people often fall into and ways to prevent oneself from falling for simple tactics that often work far too frequently. We have the tools to fight the outrage, we just need to remember to use them.

Grant & Glenn discuss money in politics and the precarious position your average citizen is in now that money flows freely into the political landscape with the passing of Citizens United. The history of preventing the corrupting power of money in politics is discussed as well as some of the key legal battles that brought us to where corporate entities have the level of influence they seem to have. We also discuss well-moderated campaign debates. Grant gets heckled. 

In episode 3, Glenn and Grant discuss our important institutions and the tendency to tear at the very foundation of these institutions when things get contentious which begs the question of, "Is that the best thing to do and if it is, then what?"

Are we a Democracy? A Republic? A Constitutional Democracy? A Constitutional Representative Democracy Republic? How is this supposed to work anyway? Your hosts tackle terms we often use and attempt to get to the root of what makes this whole freedom thing happen. Also, is this whole freedom thing happening?

In this episode, Grant and Glenn introduce themselves and explain what prompted them to start the show. They discuss the ground rules of A Civil Discourse and what they are hoping to accomplish with the show. Ultimately, the foundation of the show is set in Episode 1 while giving the audience an opportunity to get to know the hosts.
