Portfolio manager of Fidelity Long/Short Alternative Fund, David Way, joins us today. Dave notes there is a lot for portfolio managers to take in right now. Between the stock market and world events there are a lot of factors to analyze, figure out what matters and invest accordingly. Dave shares he is looking for situations where something different is happening from what everyone thinks is happening. He also highlights the benefits of having a long/short fund, which expands his opportunity set and allows him to really drill down to individual companies to see if they are a good long or short opportunity. Also today Dave looks at supply chain issues and commodity shortages, leisure and travel increasing, ESG trends, housing market trends, as well as inflation, rising interest rates and the effect on consumer spending.
Recorded on March 29, 2022.
