European equity markets have been lower lately as concerns over the global banking sector re-ignite. The declines are another hit to the overall health of the UK economy, which is currently an outlier amongst other global markets. So what is driving the inflation story in the UK? And why is today’s guest optimistic about its future performance? London-based Tom Stevenson, Investment Director at Fidelity International, joins host Pamela Ritchie today to discuss what’s at play now and into the second half of 2023 for the UK and Europe. Tom shares it's a big week for tech stocks as we're right in the thick of earnings season now, and as earnings season goes on we will have a pretty good sense of how tech is doing. Also, that these companies are instrumental as they are large contributors to the rally in markets this year. The S&P 500 is up 8% this year, and two thirds of that rise has been accounted for by just five tech stocks. Among other topics today, Tom shares insights on if we’ll see a global recession, or if it will be more mild, or a soft landing.
