On today’s program, we’ll begin a study based on the book of First Thessalonians. I’m sure you can recall a time in your life when you needed a little encouragement, and a friend or family member was right there to deliver those perfect words at the perfect time. That’s exactly Paul’s purpose for writing his first letter to the church in Thessalonica. He had several goals in mind and encouragement was on the list as we’ll see today. We’ll be finishing up Colossians, with the apostle Paul’s closing comments. In the final few verses of the epistle Paul mentions several people that worked alongside of him. As you look back a few years to when we were going through Covid, perhaps you’ve learned a few things about what’s really important in life. One thing many of us have discovered is how important it is that we’re together! We need to be with others, and God intended it to be that way. Has this thought crossed your mind in recent years… “We’re getting close to the end?” What does the Bible have to say about the time of the end? You might be pretty good about praying for others, but do you also ask others to pray for you? Both are important in our daily walk, and we see that modeled for us by the apostle Paul. What would you say you’re devoted to these days? Would it be entertainment or work and money… or maybe you’re family? But how many of us would actually say we’re devoted to prayer? In chapter four verse two we read, “Devote yourselves to prayer, being watchful and thankful.” It’s a rather brief statement, but it’s packed with helpful instruction for our daily walk.

Even the casual observer can’t help but see hatred and sinful anger are on the rise.
