A Daily Walk on Oneplace.com

We’ve all experienced it you dig into a meal and discover it doesn’t have enough salt. It’s bland! It’s about that time you reach for the salt-shaker right? While delivering His Sermon on the Mount, Jesus likened the Christian to salt and light. We’ll see how we can be salt to a world desperate for some good seasoning! It’s part of pastor John Randall’s study in Matthew and the Sermon on the Mount.

It’s not hard to see that most in our day are living for themselves. If we have eyes to see, we notice what that leads to misery! On the otherhand, if we choose to surrender to the Lord, put Him first in our lives, and glorify Him we’ll find soul satisfaction! That comes to our attention today on a Daily Walk through a study of Luke nine. And in the midst of it all we’re confronted with a very important question: Who do you say that Jesus is?

Chapter nine of Luke will be the centerpiece of our study. Imagine hosting a get together, and discover that you don’t have enough food to go around. That would be quite embarrassing, right? But in our day and age the problem could probably be resolved by making a trip to the grocery store, or making a phone call to a local restaurant. This luxury wasn’t available in the days of Christ, making what we’re about to read even more astounding. Five loaves and two fish. Perhaps enough to feed a couple of people, but certainly not five thousand, right? Nothing is impossible for God, and little is much in the hands of God!

What’s the most important question that could ever be asked? It’s not, Will you marry me? What’s my career path? Or where should I live? Actually, it’s who is Jesus? And how you answer that is very telling about your spiritual condition. Today on a Daily Walk we’ll observe what sets Jesus apart from everyone else!

When you look at the people God has used in the past, it’s clear He can use anyone! And that most certainly includes you. Today on a Daily Walk we pay a visit to Luke nine where we find the calling of the disciples. God empowered them, sent them out, and they were obedient. Pastor John Randall says those are footsteps to follow in! If God called you to the mission field, would you go? What if He said, drop everything you’re doing today and go minister to that hurting neighbor down the street? Would you be willing? Let’s receive a much needed challenge from Luke chapter nine.

You witness to a friend and now they’re no longer speaking to you! You take a stand against something God condemns in His Word, like abortion, and start receiving hate mail in your dm’s! Persecution is to be expected as followers of Christ. But don’t let that get you down. It’s an opportunity to look up to your reward in heaven, realizing you’re in good company. That message rings loud and clear in the Sermon on the Mount, and that’s where we join pastor John Randall for a Daily Walk.

Jesus gave His disciples experiences from which they learned precious lessons. For instance, last time on A Daily Walk they observed the raising of Jairus' daughter and were granted a preview of their Lord's mastery over death. As we enter Luke chapter nine today, their training kicks into high gear.

Maybe today you’re in what appears to be a hopeless situation. When the outlook is bleak what do you do? Today on a Daily Walk we’ll meet a couple of people in that very place. One dear lady was broke, very sick and getting worse, and the doctors don’t have the answer! The second is a man who has just received the news that his daughter has died. I think you’d agree it doesn’t get much worse than that! But both made the right decision in turning to Jesus. Let’s see how the Lord came through for them and can still do so today!

A severe medical problem, broke, an outcast and out of options that describes the woman we’ll meet today on a Daily Walk. And when she had an encounter with Jesus her life dramatically changed! Maybe you can relate to the woman I just described on some level? Whether it’s an incurable disease that you’re faced with, or financial ruin, or you feel as though you’re a social outcast Jesus will welcome you with open arms! And there’s no one outside of His reach. We’ll be encouraged by that today as we join John Randall in Luke chapter eight.
