A Daily Walk on Oneplace.com

Today’s subject matter is something we all face from time to time - the storms of life. Some of them are as a result of disobedience in our lives, and we might refer to them as storms of correction. But there are others that come our way to teach us valuable lessons and help us grow! Pastor John Randall calls those storms of instruction. We are now one third of the way through our series in Luke. It’s been a great journey so far, with many practical lessons we can apply to our lives. And today’s message is no different, because one thing is certain in this life - storms will come our way!

John Randall is going through Luke right now. If you’re like some Christians you go to church once or twice a week, maybe attend a small group Bible study now and then, read your Bible, and you even hear studies over the radio. That’s great, but it shouldn’t stop there! We’ll not only have you consider how you are hearing the Word today, but are you obeying and believing it? We’ll be covering Luke chapter eight.

Have you ever tried to put something together without reading the instructions first? How did that go for you? If your experience is like mine, it usually doesn’t turn out so well. Today on a Daily Walk we find that God has clearly layed out in His Word how we’re to conduct ourselves as His disciples. And we’d do well to read the instruction manual and then apply it! Matthew chapter five contains the great sermon on the mount. Pastor John Randall highlights the early portion of it, the beatitudes.

Any farmer will tell you that healthy soil yields healthy crops! And Jesus would speak of 4 different types of soil to convey a powerful message about the condition of our hearts. The condition of the soil of our heart will determine what kind of crop comes forth! So it would be good for us to consider the condition of our own heart!

In Luke chapter eight Jesus likens the heart to soil and the Word of God to seed. Here He speaks of four kinds of soils to represent the four kinds of hearts. The Lord desires that our hearts be good soil that would receive the seed of the Word - so our lives would become blessed and fruitful. Too often that’s not the case so Jesus in this parable helps us to see the true condition of our hearts that we might respond accordingly! Let’s see where our hearts are at today on a Daily Walk.

We’re about to witness one of the most touching scenes in all of Scripture today on a Daily Walk. Pastor John Randall is taking us through the Gospel of Luke and today we observe a known and notorious sinner expressing gratitude to Jesus for the grace and forgiveness He brought her way. Today we enter the seventh chapter of Luke, where we run across a couple of noteworthy miracles performed by Christ. A centurion’s slave was at death’s doorstep, then along came Jesus to make him well. As was always the case when Jesus performed a miracle like this, there was an important lesson for the people to learn. And that includes us!
