  • Professional Comedian Jessica Holmes Talks About Her Struggle With Depression
Today's special guest, celebrated comedian and author, Jessica Holmes, has always applied humor as healing balm for life's scrapes and bruises. Since childhood, Holmes has kept a "funny journal," recording bizarre moments that remind her life is, most often, more comedy than tragedy.
Holmes shot to stardom on her own Carol Burnett style sketch series The Holmes Show and then Royal Canadian Air Farce then started booking high profile gigs such as opening for Jerry Seinfeld and Ellen DeGeneres. From the outside it seemed like Holmes had it all. But on the inside, she was suffering in silence: after recovering from post partum depression years earlier,
Holmes entered a familiar slump. When she wasn't glued to her couch surrounded by junk food, she was avoiding her agent and yawning through gigs, even when emceeing for one of her idols, Oprah Winfrey.
Her book Depression The Comedy describes how Holmes eventually came to terms with depression: "the cold sore of the mind." Writing with self deprecating insight and emotional vibrancy, she speaks candidly about her condition, musing on everything from sex and marriage counseling to the bittersweet reactions of her kids to the funny (and scary) side effects of medication.
After battling both post partum depression and regular, run of the mill garden variety depression (her words), Holmes became a Life and Career Coach, and now tours regularly on motivational speaking circuits in addition to her work as an in demand comedian. She has performed wellness keynotes for such companies as 3M, Allergan, Carstar, Deloitte, Genworth, Atlific Hotels, and Habitat for Humanity. In the spring of 2018 she became an ambassador for the #BellLetsTalk campaign for mental health, and started a comedic online photo campaign to help others feel less isolated.

  • The  Crystal Health Craze with  Holistic Nurse Jennifer Marcenelle
Young professionals from LA to Miami pay top dollar for sessions with gemstone therapists, but it's not just a trend for yuppie urbanites with extra cash. Etsy has nearly 350,000 items marked "healing crystals" and even Walmart now sells  $11 chakra sets. But will clutching an amethyst or wearing a diamond necklace really do anything for your health? According to today's special guest, former ER and Critical Care nurse, Jennifer Marcenelle, it's certainly possible.
Evidence suggests that gemstones send out vibrations which can resonate with the frequency of healthy cells in a specific part of the human body, and they may help bring back unhealthy cells to vibrating at the same level as healthy cells
As a board-certified, holistic, registered nurse with over 30 years of experience in the medical field, Marcenelle has seen a rapid rise in interest for this alternative treatment. A growing number of people are turning to it as an all-natural solution for help with anxiety, depression, chronic and acute pain, fatigue, sprains, and even skin rashes. It supports the body’s ability to self-heal (physically, mentally, emotionally and spiritually) and has been found to energize the body and mind, decrease blood pressure and inflammation, reduce toxins, and minimize stress.
.Jennifer Marcenelle MBA, BSN, RN, HBC-HN is a Board-Certified Holistic Nurse with over 30 years of experience in the medical industry. She is a certified Gemstone and Diamond Therapy Practitioner. At the age of 44, she had a health crisis and near suicide from burnout. She’s the founder and CEO Of Burn Bright Today and has dedicated her career to helping people move from Burning Out to Burning Bright.

  • Walking Between Worlds: A Spiritual Odyssey with Athena Demetrios
For more than 30 years, today's special guest, Athena Demetrios repressed the most traumatic memories of her childhood. Raised in abject poverty in a dysfunctional and alcoholic environment, and terrorized by a repulsive boarder who lived in the root cellar bent on repeatedly raping a six-year-old child, Athena succumbed to a downward spiral of melancholy and despair. Without recalling the memories, she had no knowledge of the reasons behind her suppressed rage, and why she pushed people away and engaged in self-destructive love relationships. Struggling with recurring thoughts of suicide, she desperately sought answers.
It had been apparent that Athena had a window into other worlds when as a teen, she clearly saw her father in her bedroom doorway on the night following his burial. Now, in her darkest hour, the teachings of Saint Germain awakened Athena to the higher laws of the universe through a powerful spiritual experience. She tells the stunning revelations that emerged in her book Walking Between Worlds: A Spiritual Odyssey. And with that door flung open. She began to spontaneously experience previous lives, premonitions, visions, and communication with those beyond the veil.
Guided by a being she calls her "mystical muse," the charming Dr. James Martin Peebles with his thick Scottish brogue, Athena explored both earthly and cosmic mysteries--and the uncannily familiar sense of having known Dr. Peebles before. Now, ready to step out on her own, she studied to become a channel herself, all the while slipping "between worlds," with a variety of jaw-dropping experiences.

  • Five Keys to Take Charge of Your Life with Dimitri Spanos
We’re always having conversations with ourselves. Most of the time the inner voice we hear fills us with doubt and discouragement. We’re often unaware that it comes straight from the writing on our wall — hidden, prerecorded belief systems imprinted on our subconscious minds. If we harness the power of the brain’s neuroplasticity, we can successfully break free.Despite our best intentions, so many attempts to retool our lives fall short and we wind up right back where we started — steeped in negative self-doubts and worries. That’s because these patterns, developed early in our lives, are etched into our brains. It takes more than thinking to root them out. It takes powerful techniques, practicing, and courage.
In the book The Mind Is a Map: Awareness is the Compass, and Emotional Intelligence is the Key to Living Mindfully from the Heart today's special guest personal growth expert Dimitrios Spanos, along with his co-author Christina Reeves, has perfected a profound approach to self-transformation that’s founded in brain science.
Dimitrios Spanos, CEQP, cofounded the Eudaimonia Center with Christina Reeves. It is a learning center for transformational change, core healing and personal development. He is a Certified Practitioner of Six Seconds EQ and Certified in Heart Initiation. https://themindisthemap.com/

  • Childhood Abuse, Body Shame, Addictive Plastic Surgery with Dr. Mark Constantian
The public watched the sad descent of Michael Jackson into an endless cycle of face-distorting surgical procedures as we wondered why a beautiful young man would subject himself to what amounted to disfiguring mutilation. This case, and those of other celebrities like it, was all too familiar to today's special guest Dr. Mark Constantian. The plastic and reconstructive surgeon recognized a truth that he has witnessed repeatedly in his more than 40 years of practice—people who have had a troubled childhood may manifest their distress in body dysmorphia, an unrealistic preoccupation with the body or its parts.
Constantian recognized early on in his practice that his patients’ particular type of dysmorphia didn’t conform to the description of body dysmorphic disorder (BDD) described in the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders. He observed that his patients tended to be high-functioning and guarded about past traumas that may have impacted their mental and emotional health. This forced him to play detective in order to figure out whose BDD prevented any sort of positive outcome—even if the surgery was 100 percent successful.
By combining anonymous anecdotes of actual case histories with his carefully researched studies, Constantian reveals that the mystery surrounding plastic surgery and BDD—and many other addictions and self-harming behaviors—is no mystery at all when a patient’s trauma history is taken into account.
Mark Constantian M.D., FACS, has practiced plastic surgery in Nashua, NH since 1978 and has faculty appointments at the University of Wisconsin and the University of Virginia. He is the author of more than 100 professional journal articles and book chapters and two previous textbooks, including Rhinoplasty: Craft and Magic.

  • Living With the Flow of Synchronicity with Sky Nelson-Isaacs
Synchronicity or meaningful coincidence has been something philosophers and scientists have wondered about for decades. Most of us have experienced it at least once. You are on a much anticipated road trip and your vehicle breaks down. As you’re waiting by the side of the road a mechanic who specializes in just that type of car drives up and lends a hand. Is this just chance? Can two events be related in a meaningful way without one causing the other? If so, what does this tell us about the cosmos? Can we live in such a way and make choices that encourage synchronicity? Is that something we should strive for?
In Living in Flow: The Science of Synchronicity and How Your Choices Shape Your World,  today's special guest, physicist Sky Nelson-Isaacs turns to quantum mechanics to seek answers. Adhering to what we know from science, while offering a provocative new hypothesis, Nelson-Isaacs proposes that the cosmos may be designed to bring us meaningful, synchronistic experiences in response to the choices we make.
When we live in “flow,” a state of activity in which we align with our purpose and values, balancing our personal good with the greater good, we make choices that invite synchronicity. In addition to a layperson’s explanation of the possible physics behind synchronicity, Nelson-Isaacs shows how cultivating flow can empower us individually and help make our world a better place.
Sky Nelson-Isaacs is a physics educator, speaker, author, and musician. He has a masters degree in physics from San Francisco State University, with a thesis in String Theory, and a BS in physics from UC Berkeley. Nelson-Isaacs has dedicated his life to finding his own sense of purpose, beginning as a student of the Yogic master Sri Swami Satchidananda when he was less than five years old.
