  • Overcoming Fear of Public Speaking with Coach Lisa Wentz
Does a root canal scare you less than public speaking? If so, you’re not alone. While any number of books, Web sites, and other resources claim to offer help, few deliver. That’s why today's special guest, Lisa Wentz, wrote Grace Under Pressure: A Master Class in Public Speaking.
Lisa Wentz has spent the past decade dedicating her life to helping professional and amateur public speakers overcome blocks, develop their voices and craft their delivery. Her background includes extensive study in psychology and ten years of professional acting training and live performance.
It’s this comprehensive training that allows Wentz to address the full spectrum of issues that drive the fear of public speaking in a way that few others can. Her program not only gives readers the training to sound (and look) better, but the tools to address what lies at the root of the fear that keeps them from speaking with confidence. For Wentz, that means cultivating your singular voice so that you become “fearlessly authentic.”
Wentz has helped even the most anxious speakers take to the stage with grace and poise. The founder of the San Francisco Voice Center, her background is unique even among the top public speaking experts. Wentz is the only professional in California and one of few in the U.S. to hold both a degree in the Alexander Technique—the premier teaching model for all modern voice work—and a master’s degree in Voice and Speech Studies. She earned the latter at the world-renowned Royal Central School of Speech and Drama. She also has a degree in psychology and ten years of professional acting training and live performance behind her, including studying with the Royal Academy of Dramatic Arts Shakespeare program in London.

  • How to Shift Your Mind to Change Your Life with Donna Blevins
Would you like to know how to shift out of fear, anxiety, worry and overwhelm in an instant and anchor yourself in a new reality that leads to profound positive change in your life?
Today's special guest, Donna Blevins, had been a MindShift coach for many years, but found herself frustrated with a way to really demonstrate the power of her programs in the midst of writing her breakthrough book. As she later reflected, "Be careful what you ask for" because she was struck by what she calls her "stroke of genius" - a devastating physical stroke that blocked the flow of blood to the central part of her left brain, the area that controls speech.
That's when Donna went to work using her own MindShift Exercises™. Three days later Donna started talking fully and completely. That was the proof she was asking for. She focused not on the fear of living without speech, nor on what others told her was her future, but on what was most important... finding her "misplaced words
Now Donna is brings forth her book, Mindshift on Demand: QUICK Live-Changing Tools. It is Donna's proven, practical and profound book on how to shift out of fear, anxiety, worry and overwhelm.
Donna Blevins has served as an executive coach, a poker coach and an overall MindShift coach. With a diverse background as professional speaker, real estate consultant, magazine advertising executive, newspaper columnist, and professional poker player with two master's degrees and a doctorate,

  • Discovery and Meaning of Cyclic Time with Jules Boles
Our most precious and accepted scientific principles, built over millennia by luminaries including Einstein, Darwin and Hawking, are all built on one basic idea, that time is a straight line. However, logical contradictions that arise are given ever-more improbable explanations to fill the gaps - string theory, dark matter, parallel universes. It just doesn’t add up.
But what if time is not a straight line? What if time is a circle with a relatively short repeating cycle? Everything falls neatly into place.
Welcome to Flash Time: a revolutionary new world view book written by today's special guest Jules Boles. Flash Time is a challenge to everything we think we know. It is an idea he developed over decades, based on inconsistencies in science, even though his original intention was actually to disprove cyclic time.
Flash Time is a revolutionary new way of looking at the universe and our place in it by seeing time as a cycle rather than a line. It is a truly mind-bending book that will change how you think about the world around you. As a result, our most persistent scientific inconsistencies are swept away, along with all our biggest scientific assumptions, and a new ‘Theory of Everything’ that really works is presented.
To quote Jules, “I found an Earth-shatteringly different universe - one that travels from order to chaos and back again. The world’s fate is not as bleak as it seems today: nature has a powerful ability to restore order when we create chaos.”
Jules Boles, FGA, FRGS is a chief gemmologistt at the British Gemmological Institute.

  • Healing a Community After a Large Scale Trauma with Melissa Glaser
The aftermath of large-scale tragedy in the US, whether environmental or as a result of violence such as mass shootings, often follows a predictable pattern for the public-at-large. Nothing could be further from the truth though for the impacted community where, in addition to the grief-stricken victims’ friends and families, everyone from the first responders and doctors to the local clergy and area leaders, are thrown into uncharted territory. In Healing a Community: Lessons for Recovery after a Large-Scale Trauma, today's special guest Melissa Glaser, MS LPC, the director of the Newtown Recovery and Resiliency Team, and one of the country’s preeminent community response and recovery leaders, offers a practical and much-needed guide for local officials, emergency workers, mental health professionals, and anyone else dealing with the daunting task of supporting and healing a community after tragedy and trauma.
As the coordinator of Newtown Recovery and Resiliency Team (NRRT), Glaser was tasked to develop a long-term mental health and wellness strategy in the town after a gunman took the lives of twenty children and six adults at Sandy Hook Elementary School in December 2012. When they began work in the shattered community 18 months after the tragedy, NRRT had no roadmap to follow. But over the course of their tenure, the group developed a set of therapeutic and transferable best practices. Glaser shares all the knowledge and insights they gained from the work in her book, to benefit other communities.
Melissa Glaser is a licensed professional counselor who’s been providing clinical psychotherapy services for the past 28 years. While maintaining a private practice, Melissa has held an array of positions in the field of psychology including several clinical leadership positions in non-profit organizations and stints in an urban hospital emergency room and an urban city school-based health center.

  • Misconceptions About Mental Illness with Dr. Vinay Saranga
By now, most people know just how real and even disabling a mental health condition can be. Unfortunately, there’s still a lot of misguided and incorrect information out there. What are the real facts about some of the most common mental illnesses?
A few of the most common misconceptions about mental health according to today's special guest Dr. Vinay Saranga:
You can ‘just get over itAnxiety is just feeling nervousMental illness isn’t realDepression is just feeling sadMental illness only occurs in weak peopleStress is not a big dealHe must have ADHDI’m so OCDAntidepressants and antianxiety meds are handed out like candy
These days, it’s tough to be an adult and unable to control your impulses, or to remember where you put your keys, or to even know whether what you just saw was real or a hallucination. Is it schizophrenia? Alzheimer’s? ADHD? Certainly, it’s not easy to wonder why you lose your temper without a real reason. As well as, to drink more and more and think you can stop when you want but then secretly wonder if you ever really will…? Bipolar Disorder? Alcoholism? Addiction?
Vinay Saranga M.D., is a psychiatrist and founder of Saranga Comprehensive Psychiatry. He says about 450 million people worldwide suffer from a mental health condition like anxiety, depression or bipolar disorder. Even if you’re not one of these people, chances are you have a friend, family member, coworker or someone else in your life who would benefit from you knowing the facts.
