Jesus left His followers two ordinances -- Ceremonial practices that are unique to our faith. Jesus never asked His disciples to remember His birth, but He did instruct them to remember His death and resurrection. Baptism in the Bible expresses an identification with Christ’s death and resurrection—the old self was crucified with Christ and has been risen with Jesus in “newness of life”. It proves to the world exactly WHO you are — a child of the King!
Easter proves that God sees you. That He cares. And that Hope is alive! God has offered up His Son — at just the right time — to redeem sinners like you and me and make us friends of God.
When your hope is a living hope -- Jesus -- who saved us by His grace through faith, you wait expectantly to be used. Knowing you have a inheritance that no one can touch and are guarded by God’s power and you have set apart your life to be used by your commander you will see the power of God.
As we wrap up our WITNESS series, we want to give you a simple three step strategy to invite your friends and family to discover more in Christ — Pray. Invite. Bring. Imagine what God could do in their life, the difference He could make, the people they could influence — if they truly came to believe that Jesus is the Savior of the world. It starts with a simple invitation and the fields are ready for harvest.
If you don’t have a burden for the lost, you can’t have a vision for your church. God’s vision is to reach out to those who don’t know Him and tell them about Him. Wherever God places you, your purpose is clear: to help at least one person take at least one step toward God and others.
A lot of Christians take the freedom they have in Christ as an escape. Paul and Silas showed us that our freedom is an opportunity to lead others into our freedom. Come and see / Go and tell.
The church and its relationships are not just the pastor’s responsibility. We are in this together. Lets fight together. Lets be sober minded. Let us be alert. Lets break the chains before they get their hooks in us. Let’s destroy the stronghold before the first wall is built. Lets be that church that the gates of Hell cannot keep us out!
Forgiveness is not an elective course in Christianity. It is a required course, and the exams are very, very tough. Even so, many of us struggle to forgive. We know God is a forgiving God and don't trust Him to hold the person accountable for their actions. Yet, if we live only according to justice, always seeking to get what is ours, we will put ourselves into prison. But if we live according to forgiveness, sharing with others what God has freely shared with us, then we will enjoy freedom and joy.
Jesus wants us to maintain our relationships. When our relationships are maintained and we can agree without bitterness to sympathize, our power as a church is exponential. Don’t let Satan scheme us out of our promised power to change our world.
