i saw Barbie last Tuesday and it was so weird like i thought that after I saw it i immediately would start writing my thoughts for an episode but it didn’t I loved the movie i thought it was so perfectly done and honestly have like nothing negative to say and i thought i would be saying that but i thought i would be like ready to talk
i listened to a podcast the co-writer and director Greta Gerwig did and i have heard a little bit of peoples reactions to it and just been kind of shocked
I think it just got me thinking about how much misogyny I overlook in my life like just going on Youtube and seeing all of these insanely titled videos about ariana grande about a situation that isn’t 100% confirmed calling her out of her band but giving grace to the man who left their family
My job especially as an interior designer working with architects with big egos seeing how we get dismissed and overlooked and people try to do our job and talk to us like we are stupid and then seeing other designers act like we arent treated unfairly as women and critiquing the barbie movie it’s like you experience the message of this movie everyday and you enjoy the prívelleges of the patriarchy so much you can’t see how it hurts you
and listening to dynamics on podcasts with men and how they talk about women like even in a big brother podcast i listened to talking about the season and the new cast and not realizing how smart the women this year most likely are
i loved thinking of the mindset of why mattel was made and looking at it like all the men who work for mattel making a world for little girls and designing it built around how there world is for them and therefore mimicking the patriarchy with in it or the female creator and former CEO starting it because their felt pigeon holed and stuck within the world that they actually lived in like i love both situations for different reasons obviously
in my perfect world barbie realized that her world wasn’t perfect and neither was the real world and how she was treated there and that there needs to be some middle ground and equality in how both genders are treated that’s my truth lol
the outrage is so funny to me and telling because at the end of the day this is a world where barbie’s are real who is to say anything else mentioned or happening in the movie is? but everyone is acting like it is like you’re pretty much proving that that is what our world is if you make that assumption
i love that it still could be something that kids enjoy and fully understand the underlying message or it goes over their heads i think that’s kind of cool
i feel like all the actresses and actors did amazing and i think it was just the movie people needed to see right now and i’m excited for the other movies that are coming out soon similar to this like polly pocket etc like i think they will be cool to see
thanks for watching and i don’t even know what i can’t or can say with the strike but i think you get my opinion on the movie and whether or not you should see it?!
