Austin (he/him) is a Chicago-based actor, writer, and photographer from Northern California. In June, Austin will receive his BFA in Acting from The Theatre School at DePaul University. He is certified by the National Society of American Fight Directors with additional training in (and love for) voicing for animation as well as classical and contemporary heightened text. With a background in movement, Austin has also trained in Motion and Performance Capture. His prose and poetry is informed by a continuous study of history and by the language of Ubuntu -- the South African philosophy that embodies the interconnectedness of humanity, a language which says "I am only because you are" and is driven by a deep love and respect for every fellow human one encounters. A drive for Austin is to use art, storytelling, and Ubuntu as a tool for a radical restructuring of our collective consciousness towards a safer and more just society for humanity and beyond.

A Statement from Austin:

"I wrote this piece a few months into what we thought was going to be a relatively short quarantine in the summer of 2020. I have always been someone who wishes to be as connected to Nature as possible whether it be climbing trees or mountains, swimming in rivers and oceans, or simply basking in the smallest pools of sun wherever I can find them. After my entire world seemed to be transported online and strictly socially isolated, it was difficult to feel fulfilled by my interactions with Nature because of how desensitized the screens, loneliness, and chaos ended up making me. I began writing this poem at dusk one night after a full day of online classes and screens, I expected to write about these since it was where my head was at. I quickly realized that the poem wanted to about anything but and by the time the sun dipped below the horizon, I had explored each of my senses in a way that revived a gratefulness for Nature and my daily interactions with it that had been momentarily lost in a foreign electronic landscape.

A huge thank you to both the AMOYT team for featuring my work and to all you beautiful listeners for listening!"

Ariel is a Singer, Songwriter, Film/Theater Actor, Dancer as well as the Vocalist/ Songwriter “Arieliza". She is graduating from Connecticut College in May 2021 where she is studying Music, Voice, Acting, Dance and Economics.

 

Broken is a single off of Arieliza’s third album that she is seeking to develop with a record label before releasing this summer. Arieliza's Alternative-Indie style is laced with traces of Jazz, Punk and Pop, creating a unique sound that continues to mature as she grows. Agnes is currently singing with the Calarts Contemporary Vocal Ensemble, preparing for their next concert on May 4th, 2021. You can hear her composition and voice on her new EP “Love Letter” on Spotify, YouTube, Google play, online worldwide. In 2015 Agnes won The Most “Passionate Spirit” award from Pacific Asian Consortium in Employment. 2009/2010 she won The Most “Innovative” award with Walt Disney’s English & Print Department. 1996 Chu had an opportunity to Work with Tim Burton and Danny Elfman on Warner Brothers Motion Picture “Mars Attacks. 1997 she Premiered a couple Women Composer’s work in London with the International Women Alliance in Music.

 

Agnes is a certified Harmony Road Music Group Lessons Teacher. She holds a vocal performance degree from California Institute of the Arts. She is also a member of Music Teacher Association of California. 2008, She was a music advisor for Walt Disney Company and 2013 she produced EP music album for students, you can hear the album “Front Row” on Spotify, YouTube, CD baby, Google play and Amazon.

"As we adjust to the new normal, this song can bring some light to the darkness, that’s my hope. Also as an Asian American being scared to go outside for my daily walk due to Asian getting beat up during daily walks with their dog in our community has been very scary to us. This song is set in an icy cold forest. In the midst of coldness, we can still find the warmth, and beauty in it. When you can be still and peaceful with it, there’s always sunlight behind your smile. Like the light at the end of the tunnel."

"The poem was written in 2020 because the Muse graced me with her presence. As I was a teen in the 80s, I still love 80s tunes--from pop to punk, and from metal to alternative. This music simply makes me happy. And I started thinking about the women in the lyrics of the various songs. "This song was written in January 2021 and released March 2021. I wrote it about my experience going through the music industry. It can be full of high hopes and excitement, but also a lot of disappointments and challenges. We all have expectations and a plan of how our lives and career are going to go. However, as 2020 has shown us, and what life shows us, things don't always go to plan, and we have to learn to adapt to change.

 

I was born in Queensland, Australia, but raised in the United States until I was 10 years old. I consider myself a Melbourne girl though, and have been in Melbourne ever since. I started playing guitar at 10, and my dad helped teach me chords growing up. I didn't start singing until I was 13, and then songwriting followed close behind. I started writing songs as poems, and then learned to apply chords and melodies from my guitar as a teenager. Growing up, I looked up to artists like Shania Twain. I remember watching her music video for "I'm Gonna Getcha Good" when I was about 5, and thinking "I'd love to do that one day". I've always been torn between my passion for law, and music. I'll soon be a fully qualified lawyer, but love to write music and sing. I'd love to find a way to use both of those passions together somehow in the future. I wrote and recorded my single "Think Again Boy" in Nashville last year. I hope that my music spreads a positive message, and people feel uplifted through my social media and songs."
