A More Philly Union

In the vacuum of a Union-less post-season, things are a bit listless at the AMPU studios this week as Paul, C, and E try to get their bearings.  Join the AMPU crew as they celebrate the Union II's impressive run in the MLS Next Cup Tournament, prognosticate on the MLS Cup playoffs, and offer their collective two cents for future MLS schedules.

Under the bad omens of raining insects and an understaffed Cracker Barrel, the Union faced off against Cincinnati FC on Saturday in a must-win Decision Day match.  And for a brief moment, there was hope.  Join the AMPU crew this week as Paul, C, and E lament over the first Union-less playoffs in six years, Christy makes the first Replacement reference, and Paul and E find out if they guessed the right final answer from last week's Union Dome.

We are the Hollow Men.

It's GAME ON this week, both for the Union and the AMPU crew.  Our Boys in Blue prepare for the ultimate match of the season, with any possible chance of moving on to the playoffs contingent upon winning against Cincinnati on Saturday. Meanwhile, the inmates are running the asylum as C is away, leaving Paul and E to discuss possible off-season transfers and opportunities, decipher the Playoff Possibilities Matrix, and launch their new player-versus-player game: The Union Dome!

We're back!  After a brief hiatus last week, the AMPU crew returns to discuss the the quickly approaching end of the regular season.  Join Paul, C, and E as they play catch-up on the Union's 4-0 domination over DC United as well as the Union's tepid 1-1 draw against Atlanta United.  With precious time running out in the regular season, questions (and rants) arise if the return of Blake, the new-and-improved T.O.D., and the Sullivan Power Couple will be enough to get the Union over the line and into playoff territory.

In the meantime, go watch Big Night.

Technically, this past week the Union extended the I-95 rivalry to now include Miami (map it, you'll see) as the Boys in Blue face off against a very Messi Inter Miami and a very messy (eh...) NYC FC.  Meanwhile, at the AMPU studios, Paul and E have the run of things and without the sage guidance of C, they work in a LOT of movie references (probably too many) as they discuss the new and improved T.O.D, Rick's continued journey toward achieving total Blake-ness, and the three-pillar philosophy to winning games: Positivity, Confidence, and Fun.

Yee-haw!

It's the International Break this week and the AMPU crew celebrates the reprieve by tackling the Fan Quiz from We The Union.  Join Paul, C, E, and special guest, Noelle, as they honor the legendary #13, discuss an unemployed Jason Kelce, and equate England as the Mean Girl of the English language.

We've been here the whole time!

With the end of the season getting closer, the growing need for victories continues to weigh on collective shoulders.  But the Union are showing a recent run of resilience and hope to build their winning streak as they travel to take on the New York Red Bulls.  Back at the AMPU studios, Paul, C, and E muster as much energy to talk about Mad Libs, Mad Men, Danish super fans, and Uhre's simple but profound take on things: "We are not dead."

Pop quiz, hotshot. There's a flash episode on this week's pod.  Once the pod starts, the flash episode is armed.  If the episode drops below an acceptable level of informative entertainment in an efficient amount of time, as Paul, C, and E recap the Union's 3rd place Leagues Cup match against the Colorado Rapids as well as their regular season MLS match against the Columbus Crew, it goofs up.

What do you do?  What do you do?

In their first episode in a post-Martinez world, the AMPU crew shares some quick thoughts on the Union's semifinal Leagues Cup match against Columbus Crew.  Also, semantics are argued, geography is explained, and Cup-loss-induced price surging is revealed!

Onward and upwards.

Things have gotten fairly dramatic as the Union continue their run in the Leagues Cup and the AMPU crew actually releases an episode ahead of schedule.  Join Paul, C, and E this week as they discuss among other things: the Baribo incident, E's inability to properly pronounce "Mazatlán", and the wonderfully cinematic and heartfelt final appearance of our favorite Leo, José Martinez.

Gracias, José.
