Join me, Alison Elizabeth as we read out of John 13:34-35 which says "34 “I give you a new commandment—to love one another. Just as I have loved you, you also are to love one another. 35 Everyone will know by this that you are my disciples—if you have love for one another.”
"Loving others, spreading love, it’s hard. Waking up each day next to your spouse for many years, and choosing to love them in the flaws is hard work. It’s why they say marriage is hard. Loving your siblings when they are rude and inconsiderate is hard. Loving your friends, when they’ve hurt you is hard. But Jesus is asking that we do so. He’s actually demanding it.
Notice how the verse says “I have given you a new commandment”. He’s saying “I know you have the 10 commandments give to you by God through Moses, but I am giving you a new one, love one another. Everyone will know by this that you are my disciples.
It’s a powerful statement, but we are all Christian and we are called to love each other, even when it’s hard, especially when it’s hard. So as you get ready for the day ahead of you, take the posture of love. Decide to love others the way God does. Even when, and especially when it’s hard to do so."
