  • Case 19: Keep Your Hands Off Eizouken Episodes 7&8

    Are you ready for some Mizusaki episode, we sure hope you are because they are good and we like them. This week after Holden opines about his physical form and Lexi does a correction corner we get some episodes dedicated to exploring Mizusaki's interiority with flashback and following her as she works extra hard to get the robot anime done, take a trip to the bath house with the girls, watch Kanamori pull off a publicity campaign that is basically a heist and get some beautiful parent daughter bonding moments at the end.

    A heated debate erupts in the parlour room as our anime detectives discuss a particular Japanese snack. Together we discuss the various challengers and such topics as why does Nichijou feel like a comic strip, how many times can Lexi fawn over the gays of Asteroid in Love, why does Eizouken look so good, and why are the girls of K-On easily recognizable. In the end we find our winner and discuss why slice of life should come to the west.

    This week we have a bright and cheery show, and some very sleepy hosts. Despite their morning mood Holden and Lexi talk about the last entrant into the Slice of Life Tournament: K-On!. The tired investigators discus morning radio, girls running to school with toast in their mouth, the protagonist's single brain cell, growing a personality in high-school, legally not McDonalds, haggling, playing instruments and anime Columbo.

  • Case 14: Asteroid in Love Episodes 1&2

    This one is dedicated to the hope for a fully automated luxury gay space communist society. Continuing our exploration of slice of life Holden and Lexi check out a cute little show about two nerdy girls who are just so in love, just like, look at them. They're too cute, I can't get over it. Our investigators talk about the deep lore connecting Sherlock and Star Trek, the legacy of American imperialism, the many wonders of space, the definition of moe and senpai, lesbians in anime and what their signs are.

    After Holden's harrowing experience being plunged into the world of gag comedy anime, we have decided to give him a bit of a respite and a life raft with Keep Your Hands off Eizouken. After the first ever Oshiete Lexi-chan segment, Lexi and Holden discuss the sudden appearance of Crossbones in the desert dome, the high school's resident cowboy and Kurogiri's threads.
