1905: The Russian Revolution of 1905 began with the Bloody Sunday massacre in St. Petersburg, where peaceful protesters marching to present a petition to Tsar Nicholas II were fired upon by the Imperial Guard.
1920: The second Palmer Raid took place in the United States during the Red Scare. Over 3,000 suspected radicals and anarchists were arrested in several cities.
1942: The Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) convicted 33 members of a German spy ring headed by Fritz Joubert Duquesne. This event is known as the Duquesne Spy Ring case.
