The federal energy minister says no matter how prepared Australia is, the cost of fuel will remain high while the Strait of Hormuz is closed.

Chris Bowen has provided his weekly update on fuel supplies, noting more ships arrived in April than January, before the conflict in the Middle East began.

It comes as some truck drivers suggest further relief needs to be provided to counter ongoing hefty fuel bills.

Mr Bowen's reiterated the government is looking at whether further support needs to be offered.

The Lebanese health ministry and state news agency are reporting least 10 people have been killed in Israeli air strikes on southern Lebanon.

Meanwhile the militant Hezbollah group says it fired rockets and drones at northern Israel where two soldiers were wounded.

Israel's military and the Iranian-backed militant group have kept up their attacks despite a ceasefire in place since the 17th of April.

Police in Alice Springs say its streets are calm following a call by authorities and indigenous elders in the wake of rioting on Thursday.  

The violence followed the abduction and murder of five-year-old Kumanjayi Little Baby and the arrest of her alleged killer, Jefferson Lewis.

Police say their officers are continuing to accompany ambulance paramedics to jobs around town, after two paramedics were assaulted as officers tried to arrest Mr Lewis.

Mr Lewis remains in custody in Darwin, and police say they're expecting to charge him tomorrow.
