The problem of unbelief persists today. Too few will step out in faith, trusting God’s leading and consequently are robbed of the blessing God wants to bring about in and through their lives. But there’s an answer to this chronic problem and we’ll hear about it today on Abounding Grace with pastor Ed Taylor. In the book of Second Kings, chapter seven, we find two kinds of people: Those who are skeptical and unbelieving and those who step out in faith.

Our teacher, pastor Ed Taylor is going through Second Kings. In chapter seven we encounter a skeptic who not only limits God but has the potential of weakening the resolve of God’s people.

One of the more challenging teachings of Jesus is to love your enemy. But it’s given for good reason. It’s not just for the benefit of your enemy it benefits you, as well. We’ve been making our way through Second Kings. Last time we were together we began to consider how God’s people are to respond to their enemies. In Second Kings chapter six we were reminded of the problem in the battle against evil that we’re too often ill-equipped to handle. To help remedy that and assure we respond as God’s people should, we turn to what Jesus taught in the gospel of Matthew.

Today we return to the Old Testament book of Second Kings and are given a vivid picture of a new testament truth. And that is how we’re to respond to our enemies.

What would you be willing to give up or sacrifice to reach the lost or to be effective in the ministry God has you in? Would you let go of a liberty or right that you have? It’s good for us to think about these things and we’ll do just that today on Abounding Grace. We’re in the middle of pastor Ed Taylor’s study in First Corinthians, and in chapter nine we’re challenged to be sacrificial and giving just as the apostle Paul was.

When troubles and trials hit, do you resort to panic and worry as so many do? It’s a common response, but there is a better response, as we’ll learn today on Abounding Grace. And it’s modeled to us by Elisha. He and his servant are surrounded by an army. But Elisha prayed open our eyes Lord to the unseen realm. Today pastor Ed Taylor will encourage us to do the same.

Maybe you’re in the middle of a crisis, and all hope seems to be lost! It’s during those times that we can so easily panic and even want to give up. But that’s the time we should look up, and turn our eyes to the Lord. Today on Abounding Grace we’ll take a look at a time in Elisha’s life when a whole army was out to get him. Talk about a scary experience. But he had eyes to see that God was on his side and in control of the situation.
