As believers there is great freedom that we enjoy in Christ. But we need to realize that there’s also great responsibility to love! Our liberties have the potential of stumbling a weaker brother or sister. So at times we may need to put aside a particular liberty out of love and concern for others. Pastor Ed Taylor has a few examples of that from First Corinthians eight.

If you’re a little confused about what the rapture is, and when it will occur, join us as today’s lesson deals with this very subject. In Second Kings two, Elijah is taken up to heaven in a whirlwind. And as you’ll soon see, it’s strikingly similar to what believers will experience at the rapture.

Here in Second Kings chapter two, Elijah is taken up to heaven in a whirlwind. It happened instantaneously. And pastor Ed believes this is a picture of the rapture of the church. In today’s lesson he’ll give us a helpful survey of this beautiful doctrine of the rapture, the next event on the prophetic calendar.

While the message of the gospel must never be changed or altered in any way, the methods can and should change through the years. But are we open to what the Lord is wanting to do? Are you resistant to change, or accepting of it? Think that through with us today on Abounding Grace as we dive back into Second Kings with pastor Ed Taylor.

We have great liberty in Christ, but does that mean anything goes? Maybe you’ve heard some of your friends excuse their behavior, thinking that’s the case. Our salvation is a free gift from God and isn’t obtained by works or legalistic rules. However, as we’re about to see, we want to be careful to ask, how will my decisions in the grey areas affect those around me?

It was back in July that we started First Kings, and today on Abounding Grace we wrap up the series! In recent days we’ve been following the rule and reign of King Ahab. His life speaks of what will happen if we refuse to turn to the Lord, and what the wages of sin really is! Sadly his story didn’t end well. But that doesn’t have to be the case for you.
