In this episode we continue to recognize the gratitude each of us owes to Hashem for all of the kindnesses He does for us. As we continue towards the end of the Amidah prayer we learn that Shalom or Peace is the vessel that holds all blessings.
What zaps our energy to do mitzvot in a focused and enthusiastic way. The Mesillas Yesharim tells us too much sleep, fear of hard work and a love of luxury and pleasures. Water which is ta'anug or pleasure douses fire, which is the desire to grow higher. Water is important in the right amount. But too much will kill the plant.
In this class we begin the last section of the Shemona Esrei prayer called Thanksgiving. We give thanks to the One who answers Prayer and begin to take leave of Him expecting that our wishes will be granted if it is good for us! Being grateful to Hashem and others is the cornerstone of Judaism. We are called Yehudim because this name is connected to thanking/admitting what Hashem and others do for us!
In this series we continue to focus on the very important midda/character trait of zrizoot or alacrity. The difference between matza and chametz is simply time. Mitzvot, we are taught must be done quickly so they do not become chametz. What does this mean? Join me as we explore the wider and deeper definition of this very important spiritual tool and its practical application for developing your relationship with Hashem and others.
