We’ve all experienced trying to get around in the dark from the bed to the bathroom, and how many of us have stubbed a toe in the process! It’s so much easier when we turn on the light, obviously! One of the many problems with sin is that it deceives us into thinking that it’s no big deal. We think we can stop at any point. All the while it’s putting its hooks into us, forging an invisible chain. Before we know it, we awake to the reality that we’re held captive to it, and unable to break free. So it’s important to recognize our weakness and vulnerability to sin and discover some practical steps we can take that will serve to protect us. We'll do that today on According to the Scriptures.

There are a couple of events in David’s life that would seem to stand out above all others... perhaps the slaying of Goliath is one, and certainly the fall into adultery and murder would be another. We’ll look at the latter today on According to the Scriptures, and seek to learn from David’s mistakes, so that we can avoid going down a similar path. We’ve seen many triumphs and successes to this point in David’s life, and now like so many of us, he makes a series of poor decisions.

The apostle Paul spoke of the rarity of good leaders when in his praise of Timothy’s leadership said there was no one else that cared for the church in the way he did. Solomon who had seen his share of leaders lamented, “Who can find a faithful man.” Good leaders are rare indeed.
