Ace Your Life

The last few weeks have been so tough, I can't even tell you. My body was going through some crazy times, between five days straight of massive fevers and now the residual ends of this virus-that-won't-go-away. Plus throw in Christmas, an annual Christmas party that I couldn't NOT host, and now finally getting to relax after all the crazy.  Learned a lot and I'm sharing that with you today. Also, I'm giving you a little preview to my New Year's resolutions that I LOVE doing every year. Look, I feel like you don't need a new year to change your life, but because most people really get into this time of year, I'm more than happy to jump on that train. So, enjoy me pulling back the curtain on the last week or so, and some fun stuff I'm planning for 2023. Enjoy!

You can't make this stuff up y'all! It's the week of Christmas and I have been DOWN for the count with some crazy ass flu virus with chills, aches, fever and snot for days. Five straight days of fever. Finally turning a corner today, so I thought I'd share in real time what I've realized after getting so sick that I literally couldn't leave my room for five days, and how that's changing Christmas this year. Here's a hint: it's not! Huge props to my amazing family and MIL who was in town and took the best care of me. Makes me realize how lucky I am and that I do NOT have to do any of this alone. Go take a listen if you want to giggle a little and feel better about how silly we all make this time of year. Or at least I do! Enjoy and have an amazing, stress-free, healthy holiday!!

So excited to send you this RLQ about the state of affairs on this 10-days-before-Christmas time. I am nowhere near where I usually am at this time every other year, and I love it! I've decided to do things differently and NOT stress about ANYTHING this year which is so wonderful. I'll share all the good stuff with you. Also, some fun real estate things cropped up out of nowhere which was super interesting, fun and so aligned with the way I want to feel this year. So, I'm telling you all about that too.

Happy almost Christmas! This episode is so great and timely with the holiday time rapidly approaching. My guest this week is the fabulous Kate Kripke and she is all about Post natal maternal care. Basically she takes such good care of mamas, and I am here for it. She is brilliant at helping us get out of our own way and see things so clearly. She walked me through several exercises on the podcast that literally changed the way I feel about the holiday season (usually quite stressed, and now I feel quite calm for once!). Kate is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) and Perinatal Mental Health Counselor (PMH-C) in the

state of Colorado. She has had the privilege of working with individuals and groups in periods of

transition and change for more than 20 years. Kate spent the past decade and a half supporting women

and families as the Founding Director and Senior Supervising Psychotherapist of the Postpartum

Wellness Center of Boulder, an organization she created in 2007 to bring skilled and appropriate

perinatal mental health support to women and families around Boulder County. At the PWCB, she

provide psychotherapy to mothers, and her work as a psychotherapist encompasses a variety of support

modalities including CBT, IPT, Somatic psychotherapy, Psychodynamic Psychotherapy, and Mindfulness-

Based Psychotherapy.

Well, this is very vulnerable podcast today, but it's been something that I have been thinking about a lot lately. Lying. Why do we do it? I am a self diagnosed people pleaser, and after working on that for YEARS, I understand that part of the problem with people pleasing is that it turns you into a giant LIAR. Am I proud of this? Nope. But, it's a fact and I just wanted to share my two cents about why we lie, who it really hurts (not who you think) and how do we get better about feeling safe enough to tell the truth all the time, no matter what. This is a huge part of something I'm constantly working on, and wanted to see if you feel seen when you hear my very vulnerable TRUTHS about lying and how to get better at NOT lying anymore. It's a life long journey, ladies, but I'm here for it. Enjoy!
