Rob Buffam, CTV Vancouver Island updates Adam and listeners on a indecent that occurred early this morning as a house caught fire. Buffam shares the accounts of the house residents, all of whom are safe, as they recount hearing “glugging” sounds and could smell a gas-like-scent before flames were set ablaze. Residents believe that an individual potentially poured gas through the front door’s mail slot before lighting the fire and fleeing.

Afterwards, Kevin Murdoch, Oak Bay Mayor, CRD Director joins the program to speak with Adam about the CRD providing a grant to Ukrainian Canadian Cultural Society of Vancouver Island to help refugees fleeing the war in Ukraine. Mayor Murdoch notes that this initiative may be setting a precedent for the CRD Board but acknowledges that members felt determined to do more to offer support.
