A 7-year-old was diagnosed with degenerative hip disease and told that she’d never lead a full active life. Her parents didn’t accept that…and took her to a chiropractor!
In this episode of What Chiropractic Doesn’t Cure: Stories of Innate, I talk to the amazing Dr. Megan Afshar Martins. She practices at Upstate Specific Chiropractic in Greenville, SC, and specializes in upper cervical care and working with many families, pregnant women, and kids. She is also a regular speaker for Dynamic Essentials and the ICPA.
She tells a great story of a woman who had been under chiropractic care since childhood and how it liberated her to live a full life, from powerlifting to hiking!
Dr. Megan also shares how she uses a special patient appreciation day to give back to her community and how she gives back to chiropractic by hosting students and interns.
I’m grateful for how she told how her chiropractic story has grown and changes since becoming a mother as well.

On this episode of “What Chiropractic Doesn’t Cure,” my guest is a multi-generational chiropractor and who is focused on helping folks achieve the quality of life they deserve.
Dr. Austin Davis' journey is a testament to the transformative power of chiropractic care. His own recovery from a severe sports-related neck injury, thanks to chiropractic, has ignited a deep passion within him.
A couple of years ago he moved from San Fransisco and has built a new practice in Missoula, Montana.
He tells a story of a young woman who came in for something else…but during the evaluation, Dr. Austin zeroed in on the source of multiple issues she was dealing with.
He also answers the question, “If chiropractic didn’t cure her, then what did?”
We also discuss the organic, grassroots, guerilla marketing of starting a practice in a new city through collaboration, giving, serving, and loving folks.

In this episode of What Chiropractic Doesn’t Cure: Stories of Innate, Dr. Lise Cloutier shares three stories of radically changed lives.
With years of experience as a subluxation-based chiropractor from Canada, Dr. Lise Cloutier migrated her life and family to Turks and Caicos 🇹🇨 to start a practice there because it was a life calling. The first story she told was about a child who was non-verbal–specialists couldn’t explain why this eleven-year-old couldn’t talk. As Dr Lise discovered, he had significant birth trauma.
Her next story was about a child who had survived radiation on a tumor above the kidney. The resulting scoliosis put the child in a wheelchair for years. But not every chiropractic story is about a changed life on the outside. One of her patients told her that she was mustering strength to leave an abusive relationship.
These three stories will remind you what is possible with a clear nervous system! Dr. Lise is full of passion and knowledge and wisdom when it comes to simply educating the public and chiros about Chiropractic. So we dived into how to better market and educate, no matter WHERE in the world you are!

Dr. Jake Polzin practices at Louisburg Chiropractic Center, seeing people of all ages. He shares exactly how he explains to his patients the effects of stress, whether it’s physical, chemical or mental. I love the real-world example he uses of a cut on his hand. It wasn’t the stitches or the bandage but his body that healed it.
Dr. Jake also shared what do you wish more people knew about health: how and why EVERYBODY needs a chiropractor!

Dr. John Minardi specializes in explaining how chiropractic affects the brain in an easy-to-understand way. In this episode of What Chiropractic Doesn’t Cure: Stories of Innate podcast, he discusses how subluxations can affect fertility and the body’s ability to carry a baby full-term.
He’s a world-renowned chiropractic speaker, author, and practitioner. He created Minardi Education and the Thompson-Minardi Seminar Series. He was named Chiropractor of the Year in 2011 and 2018 and has been in private practice since 2001.
Dr. Minardi also explains why it’s important to understand the difference between a pinched nerve and nerve irritation. This is important for the general population to comprehend, and it’s critical for chiropractors to explain to their patients.

In this episode, I was honored to speak with Dr. Tim Young. He is a chiropractic and founder of an awesome event, Focus OKC as well as Focus Foundations.
Dr. Young has been in practice for nearly 30 years and has hundreds of amazing stories he can tell. He shared 4-year-old Oscar’s story - he wasn’t thriving, his kidneys were the size of raisins, and he had to wear a diaper because he couldn’t control his bodily functions.
Dr. Young discovered that Oscar had a congenital spinal malformation in his lumbar region that was causing major nerve interference. Chiropractic helped restore function in a powerful way, but that’s not all; there’s a very cool “rest of the story!” Listen in to hear how Oscar is doing now 15 years later.
Dr. Young is passionate about creating the very best version of himself that he can and then giving that version to the world, so that others can take that and create a better version of themselves, paying it forward in an unending cycle.
We talk about how this impacts health, relationships and our professions. He also shares his personal story of what got him into chiropractic. I’m grateful for how dedicated Dr. Young is to building up chiropractors so that they can impact their communities!

On this episode of What Chiropractic Doesn’t Cure, I spoke with Dr. Molly Spohn Lee - she’s a chiropractor and owner of Matrix Chiropractic in Greenville SC, with a great IG that I love to follow. She shared that many women under her care have been able to get pregnant after struggling with infertility.
This is due to the important role of the nervous system in managing and coordinating pelvic function, hormone regulation, sleep patterns and more. When the nervous systems of both partners are clear of subluxations, the woman’s body is best able to do what it innately knows how to do and reproduce.
Dr. Molly also discussed how she uses social media to share stories and information. Stay for the ending, where she says the ONE thing she thinks more people need to know about chiropractic!

In this episode of the "What Chiropractic Doesn't Cure: Stories of Innate" podcast, I spoke with Dr. Stew Bittman. He is a peaceful warrior, a trail guide from head to heart, Doctor of Chiropractic.
For 23 years, he and his wife Hillary had a thriving practice, Safe Haven Chiropractic. This healing center was based on donations only with a box on the wall so people could pay “the most their heart dictates.”
The Bittmans are ordained Interfaith Ministers and now travel the world with Chiropractic From the Heart events, which were born out of Sigafoose Gatherings. Dr. Stew shares an amazing story about how chiropractic didn't cure DOMESTIC VIOLENCE and how chiropractic care supported innate intelligence.
