The Western North Regional functional executive committee of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) has suspended its Sehwi Wiawso constituency chairman, Kwaku Shaibu, for illegally selling membership replacement cards to non-members. He was also suspended on the charges of selling party cards to his favourites, which is not his duty, as well as refusal to hand over fake 500 party cards in his possession.

Some members of the New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) are moving to secure a Cape Coast High Court ruling to prevent the party in Ekumfi constituency from organising its Central Region delegates conference. This comes as the NPP prepares to elect regional executives at the conference.

A suspect who was involved in a daylight street robbery at Dansoman in Accra has been arrested by the Police. Another suspect, who was involved in the robbery and is currently on the run, is being pursued by the Police.

The battle to save the fingers of a nine-year-old girl which were immersed in boiling water by her guardian over two Ghana cedis continues at the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital (KATH) in Kumasi.

The Special Prosecutor has charged the former Chief Executive Officer of the Public Procurement Authority, Adjenim Boateng Adjei, with corruption offences in the ‘Contracts for Sale’ scandal. He was charged with eight counts of using public office for profit and nine counts of directly and indirectly influencing the procurement process to obtain an unfair advantage in the award of a procurement contract.

One person has been confirmed dead whilst nine persons, including three in critical condition, are receiving treatment for gunshot wounds at the St. Theresa’s Catholic Hospital, following a clash between rampaging youth and the police at Nkoranza in the Bono East region. In protest against the alleged killing of Albert Akwasi Donkor, the youth in the farming community attacked the Nkoranza Municipal Police Headquarters and freed at least six suspects in custody.

The Ghana National Association of Teachers (GNAT) says the country’s pre-tertiary education sector is in dire crisis and needs to be salvaged as soon as possible. Deputy General Secretary for GNAT, in Charge of Education and Professional Development, Kwame Dagbandow, said this in a Keynote address delivered on his behalf by Palham Oyeye, at the launch of the Global Action Week for Education (GAWE) on Monday.

A final year student of Damongo Senior High School (SHS) is in the grips of the district police for allegedly stealing a tricycle. Seidu Yussif was nabbed by Tuna Police at a police barrier check point in the Savannah region on his way to Wa in the Upper West Region.

Traders at the newly constructed Kejetia market are complaining of high electricity bills and rampant defects on the facility. According to them, the over 40,000 shops in the market are connected to one electricity meter, a situation they described as taking a toll on their sales and businesses.
