  • Episode 40 - WTF Is Mind Body Connection with Todd Nils Nyholm

Many of us have heard about the mind body connection and even have examples from our life to prove it. I’ve got a recurring rash that shows up in times of my biggest stresses and when I'm feeling anxious, my heart races and my fingers shake, and I get queasy.  And there are positive affects as well. When I practice yoga, my mind comes to stillness and calm which isn’t easy for those of us with an overactive mind. I have no doubt of the body-mind connection, the proof is in the pudding.

My guest this episode is somatic therapist and author Todd Nils Nyholm. Through both personal and professional experience, he's discovered the undeniable relationship between mind and body. When stress, poor mental mindset, and negative external experiences convene, Todd maintains that the needs of the body are often the first thing we ignore, closely followed by forgetting to preserve our inner world. His new book, Ah, Brain, Why Do You Trouble Me So Much? speaks to:

    • Rechanneling your mindset from self-imposed boundaries
    • Breaking the chains from external expectations
    • Making courageous decisions that prioritize your mind, body, and loved ones over work and other stressors
    • Reorienting your inner compass.

    More about Todd Nils Nyholm
Todd Nils Nyholm is a Somatic Therapist working through the body with a number of modalities to help people reconnect with themselves and move towards more health and feeling better. He got into using modern and ancient therapies from all around the world in his own struggles to find health which started at an early age, which lead to a life long search for healing modalities and methods and ultimately the development of his own methods.

  • Ep. 39 - WTF Does 80s Pop Culture Teach Us About Today's Workplace & Life with Chris Clews

My teenage years were filled with memories of John Hughes movies, MTV videos (back when it was videos all day), Culture Club and Duran Duran, and Benetton sweaters.

My guest today grew up in that same era and was able to turn his love of 80s pop culture and expertise in corporate marketing into a new writing and speaking career. Chis Clews, author of the book series “What 80s Pop Culture Teaches Us About Today’s Workplace” is filled with business lessons learned from the greatest movies that defined our generation.

Chris and I recently talked about how those business lessons also apply to our personal growth journey, so I invited him to come talk about it on our show.

  • Ep. 38 - WTF Is Toxic and Healthy Masculinity with Chris Marhefka

I’ve read countless books, listened to boatloads of podcasts, gone on retreats, joined groups, and trained and studied personal growth and development for years. And yet, there are still issues I struggle with today. One of the biggest challenges we face is conflicting information.

On this episode, you'll hear from Chris Marhefka, CEO and Facilitator at Training Camp for the Soul and the Founder and Facilitator of the Embodied Man Community and Retreats. He came into this healing work after over a decade in entrepreneurship and coaching. Having done countless programs and reading hundreds of personal development books, Chris kept running into the same challenges showing up in his life. It wasn’t until he found Training Camp for the Soul and did the program for himself that he was able to truly transform his life by going deeper.

The healing work Chris focuses on is a combination of breath, somatics, energy work, story work, inner-child work, mindset, and other modalities to get deeper into the subconscious and heal at the root.
