In E 54 I try and grapple with re-reading 19th century philosopher Friedrich Wilhelm Nietzsche during lockdown and what we might be able to take from his readings and ideas. An exercise in folly? who knows....could very well be. Is he a heavy metal hero? certainly early 90s metal adopted many of his catch phrases, 'God is Dead' among many! T-shirt slogans abound! In E 49 AA gets nostalgic and looks back at those formative years when you knew you wanted to be actively part of a sub culture, whether it was joining a band, organising a show, making a fanzine, writing to bands and how a few events recently made him think how do sub cultures survive moving forward? where do people meet, rehearse, form bands and play? Partly inspired by an intimate rehearsal and partly inspired by a documentary about the Minneapolis hardcore scene and the band Husker Du. This ones only music! and what can we do to try and help scenes/sub cultures survive the anti human world we might be sleepwalking into.

The situation with Adam from Behemoth and his Blasphemy court case and why it has his total support Freedom of expression, freedom of speech, the freedom to Blaspheme, satirise and poke fun and offend institutions, people and religions being one fo the cornerstones of civilised society is more important than anything else, including your right to be offended. The recent surge in ticket sales for music festivals in the Uk being a positive sign for the live Music Industry but will it be hamstrung by health and safety and civil liberty issues? We all have to wait and see......

In E 46 AA discusses how nice it would be to just do a normal thing, how mentally exhausting lockdown is. Tries to put some nuance on the recent Protests in Dublin/Ireland and place them in a historical framework of Irish society and culture. Organise something outdoors and lads will show up for the ruck! Examines our mythical rebellious image and complicated relationship to authority. In the second half AA contemplates the influence of big tech, the idea that we are entering a new age of Feudalism, what that might mean and considers what society will look like if we all become UBI serfs. With an extra helping of madness this week!!!!
