Body, Mind and Spirit

Body, Mind and Spirit

Dreams

Dreams
    Dreams are Realities
We always assume that the everyday world is “out there” in a more real or independent sense than the world of our dreams. Yet, recent studies show that day-to-day reality is every bit as dreams are. As explained in the book The Grand Biocentric Design, Robert Lanza, physicist Matej Pavšic and astronomer Bob Berman shed light on (闡明) the big picture that our observations, dreams and imagination in our minds can affect how physical objects behave. Everything we experience is simply a whirl of information occurring in our heads. Indeed, space and time are not actual physical objects, but rather the tools in our mind to assemble information. As we go about our lives, we take for granted that our minds put everything together. But whether awake or dreaming, we are experiencing the same process as real as everyday life. We dismiss dreams because they end when we wake. However, according to biocentrism (生命宇宙論:宇宙從我心中生起), we’re always not just observing but creating reality. Dreams and what we perceive as reality are basically of the same nature. By following the implications of quantum mechanics in an unbiased way, we arrive at the unification of everyday reality and dreams.
    Dream Big
Dreams are no limits. Our outer world will be a reflection of our inner world. If we want our outer world to improve, we must go to work on improving our inner world. There are no limits to have our big dreams. Dream big. The starting point of great success and achievement has always been the same. It is for us to dream big dreams. There is nothing more important than to cast off our own limitations and begin dreaming and fantasizing about the wonderful things that we can become, have and do. A wise man once said, “We must dream big dreams for only big dreams have the power to move the minds of men.” When we begin to dream big dreams, our level of self-esteem and self-confidence will increase immediately. Our self-image improves. We feel more positive about ourselves, and we develop our abilities to deal with whatever happens to us. The reason why so many people accomplish so little is that they never allow themselves to let go, and just imagine the kind of life that is possible for them.
Dream big in order to achieve big. It has the power to change our destinies. Every human being is a dreamer but those who follow their dreams religiously achieve them. Confidence, an urge to never give up and an undying belief in our abilities are the main elements to turn our dreams into realities. Man alone has the power to transform his thoughts into physical reality. Man, also alone, can dream and make his dreams come true. We must not only dream big but also act on those successful dreams. We will be proud of ourselves if we choose to dream big, and make those dreams a reality. Visualization is a mental power which has the miraculous strength to give us a clear path towards our goals. In other words, we have to visualize big dreams each day before going to bed. This will empower us to achieve our dreams each day. In fact, visualization is nothing without proper planning. We should believe in ourselves both in dreams and in reality. Giving up is the easiest way to surrender to circumstances. But winners never give up. They are born to take the challenges and overcome them. Anyone on earth can be an achiever if he/she is a strong believer with the courage to dream big. There’s just no excuse not to dream big. Walt Disney said, “All our dreams can come true, if we have the courage to pursue them.” In our dreams, we always have the strength, the patience, and the passion to reach for the stars to change the world. Thus, dreaming, planning and taking action let us consider that every possibility could very well happen.
    Never Give up Our Dreams
Can we remember the kind of persons we wanted to be when we were young? We all want to show other people and the whole world what we are made of. But what happened to those childhood dreams? Giving up on dreams is easy as most people are averse (厭惡) to failure. Life has never been a destination because we do not arrive. It is a journey. There is no point in giving up our dreams as we do not know how soon our effort will pay. The secret is to remain focused on the things that matter. Dreams help us create life-long memories and lead us where we are. We should try as much as possible to love the process, stay positive, and enjoy our dreams because they are, indeed, the realities.

Happiness Is Contagious

Happiness Is Contagious

Feeling Great

Feeling Great
Feeling great often comes from within. We have to learn how to tame negative thoughts and approach every day with optimism. Feeling great isn’t something that just happens to us. Everyone has the power to make small changes in our behavior, our surroundings and our relationships that can help us set on course for a happier life. Research shows that writing a personal journal for 15 minutes a day can lead to a boost in overall feeling great because it allows us to express our emotions, be mindful of our circumstances and resolve inner conflicts. We all have a personal narrative that shapes our views of the world and ourselves. But sometimes our inner voice doesn’t get it right. By writing and then editing our own stories, we can change our perceptions and identify obstacles that stand in the way of our personal well-being.
Optimism is part genetic, part learned. An optimist would acknowledge the challenge in a more hopeful way, saying, “This is going to be difficult, but it’s a chance to rethink my life goals and find work that truly makes me happy.” And optimism can be infectious. So, we have to hang out with optimistic people. Happy people always live with purpose. They find joy in lasting relationships, working toward their goals, and living according to their values. The happy person is not enamored (迷戀) with material goods or luxury vacations. He/She is fine with the simple pleasures of life, such as petting a dog, sitting under a tree and enjoying a cup of tea. He/She is open to learning new things, is high in humility and patience, is often grateful, practices compassion, exercises self-care, and enjoys healthy relationships. Expressing gratitude is one of the simplest and most powerful ways to instantly feel great. Grateful people are happy people because they notice all the good in their lives, and are less likely to compare themselves with others. Taking care of our bodies through exercise, nutrition and stress management would lead us to better mental health, and in turn, feeling so great.
Besides, studies show that doing kind things for others is also an important path to feel great. When we aim to make others happier, we feel connected to them. In other words, if we think another person is feeling pretty good, that’s also enough for us to feel pretty good ourselves. Feeling great is found in helping others. It is not, actually, how much we give, but how much love we put into giving. The gift of time is often more valuable to the receiver and more satisfying for the giver than the gift of money. So, we don’t have the same amount of money, but we all have time on our hands to help others. The happiest people are those with the closest, loving, reciprocal relationships with family members and friends. In fact, they do provide love, support, fun, comfort, entertainment, a listening ear, an adventure buddy and so much more to us. Therefore, building close relationships is foundational to feel great. Feeling great isn’t about what happens to us, but how we deal with it. The good life is forged (打造) from precisely the things that we make it so great. Hence, let’s choose to feel great and be happier, starting right now.

Take it Easy

Take it Easy

  • The Power of Light

    The Power of Light
Frances Banks died, as she had lived, fully aware of what she was experiencing and where she hoped to go. She was an Anglican nun for 25 years and for much of that time, the principal of the Teachers’ Training College in Grahamstown, South Africa. She was the author of many psychological book. Her last book was Frontiers of Revelation, an account of research into psychic and mystical phenomena. Her friend, Helen Greaves, was by her side as she finally lapsed (陷入) into unconsciousness. Then, one evening some three weeks after Frances’s death, Helen sensed her presence. This extraordinary encounter marked the beginning of contact between them from both sides between life as we know, it and life on “the other side.” Testimony of Light is based on these communications that Helen received telepathically from Frances. The writings have been authenticated by those who knew them both, and who were familiar with their individual writing styles. Moving and inspiring, this classic book is a testament to the enduring power of their friendship, and offers an important message to us that the death of the body is but a gentle passing to a much freer and fuller life. Helen Greaves lived in the United Kingdom, and was the author of several books of metaphysics, including The Challenging Light, The Dissolving Veil, and The Wheel of Eternity. Testimony of Light has remained in print since it was first published in 1969, and it has touched many people. Testimony of Light by Helen Greaves consists of many communicated “scripts (手稿)” expressing the perspective of Frances Banks in the ascended (上升) dimension of life. After the memorial service for Frances, Helen experienced a euphoric (狂喜的) Sunday evening that she expressed as being an occasion when she was “not only in touch with my own immortal sou,l but also with the soul of Frances Banks.”
Among these scripts are descriptions of people encountered by Frances while she was becoming acquainted with the nature of the new plane of existence. There were new acquaintances, including Mother Florence and Father Joseph. Among the new contacts was “Mr. M,” a scientist that his research indicated “a certain X factor which was beyond man’s conception, the perfect Creative Factor, a Supreme Mind.” “'Dr. X” was a surgeon who became aware of an inner “all-knowing, all-perfect Him” to perform miracles of surgery through his brain and hands.  There was a Nazi leader (not Hitler) who’d committed suicide after the downfall of Germany. He was conscious of his terrible cruelty and filled with remorse. There was an encounter with Pierre Curie (皮埃爾·居里,法國物理學家): “I was able to have a word or two with Pierre Curie, even though on earth he was a Frenchman. Language affords no difficulty over here.” There was an arrival soul who had been a missionary nurse put to death by natives. She was accompanied by “Laki,” a small native boy she’d befriended. They had arrived here together. Even in the period of transition to this plane, she had held the child to her with love. There an ex-policeman feeling anguish about his troubled daughter on earth: “He no longer feels shame or anger, only a great desire to express his love for his daughter, and to help her redeem herself from the life she is leading.” A pretty child, named Jeannie, had lived to be nearly 12 years old on earth. Her ambition had been to become a dancer until contracting polio (小兒痲痺症) and undergoing several operations. Jeannie told Frances: “I’ve got to be perfect at dancing.” There was encountered a Frenchman who on earth was a painter of promise, indulging in drink and drugs. His current habitat was “a dreary little room in a dark and crooked street in Shadow Land.” However, he still cherished some remembrances of beauty. Frances told him, “There is a way out.”
All our various spiritual practices should bring some benefits to the body, mind and our society. Therefore, we need to feel the presence, the beauty, and the benefits of our practices, little by little, in our everyday life. Each day, we should feel a little healthier physically, more peaceful and be living a more useful life. The essence of all the spiritual practices is to make us physically easeful, mentally peaceful, and socially useful. There are various happenings that we don’t live a healthy and balanced lifestyle. But if we lead a selfless life, we won’t blame others for our anxiety, depression, disappointment, frustration, jealousy, or anger. On the contrary, there will be no worry at all. Then we will shine brightly. Light conveys both an absence of darkness, and a quality that will help us to see and understand more clearly. The light of wisdom will guide us through troubled times and challenges. A light heart is wise. People who are light in nature laugh easily, and take life as it comes. They do not dwell in life’s downturns (衰退) with a heavy heart. They bounce back with resilience (彈性). A blessing of light at any time is a great gift to give and receive. Light is always sent “for the highest good.” Light is a natural resource, free of charge. Light, always, restores a sense of trust and well-being that things are working out just fine. Light is the purest form of prayer. It comes with no conditions and only love. Light is the great connector that finds harmony and union where there is discord and divisiveness. Light brings healing and peace, where there is disease and discouragement.
Light is healing. The first creation of the divine was light. It was the first matter or energy that we are essentially surrounded by light. Research shows that we are made of light. Researchers have discovered that DNA itself is a storehouse of light. Disease occurs when the body interjects (插入) too much or too little light from the field. The universe is essentially surrounded by and produced from light, and so are our bodies. Many scientists speculate that we exist within a great field of light. There is always light, no matter how darkness appears to be. These discoveries suggest that not only are we encompassed by a field of light, but light holds everything we need. Thus, we can access light for our well-being, and use light to free ourselves from regrets, resentments, and dysfunctional energies. Besides, medical and therapeutic care involves working with light, balancing negative and positive by using hands-on methods, surgery, medicines and other mind-body tools to create an optimum balance. We, actually, use light to help create new thoughts, attitudes, approaches, and possibilities.
Light is Love. Light is a metaphor that it allows us to see, to know, and to understand who we are, who everyone else is, and what we are all doing here.
We are here to understand what each thing is; to understand the relationships between different things, and different living beings; to understand the relationships between the seemingly different, but integrated worlds of the body, the mind and the spirit that define us. In the darkness, we stumble upon things. When there is light, we don’t stumble because we can see the lay of the land, and the positioning of everything with respect to everything else, and the manner in which all things are laid out in our lives. The presence of light in our life, mind, and consciousness, enables us to pick out a path for ourselves; a path that leads us to the destinations that we seek, for where our hopes lie, there we go ultimately. Light feels good because it allows us to see well enough to gain knowledge of our surroundings, and our situation in these surroundings. In the world of the mind, light gives us insight and understanding.
In the world of consciousness, light is a metaphor for love. Love feels good because love makes it possible for things to come into existence, and also to continue to exist, and be held together. Light serves as a symbol, and a metaphor for insight, intuition, understanding and love. In the Bible, Christ has said, “The light of the body is the eye: if therefore thine eye be single, thy whole body shall be full of light.” This signifies that we shall only gain light that we need to see, to understand and to love everything and everybody unconditionally and without judgement, when our whole being becomes filled with light. The purpose of being human is to seek light in order to seek insight and understanding, and to seek love, all of which come from the light and also give rise to the light, in a spirit of oneness. In the end, we understand that we are love, and that everything and everybody is love. If we have failed to light up our minds with insights and with understanding, it is because we have failed to light up our insides. We should light up ourselves, search long and hard within ourselves to see what we choose to manifest, and take onboard (參與) the light of unity, compassion and love.

  • People Connection

    People Connection
Through the years, we’ve thrived as a species by connecting with others. Whether we were hunting for meat, gathering berries, or traveling in stagecoaches, and so on, we did it together in social groups. It’s this human connection that has advanced our world from gathering, and hunting for our food to shopping for it in grocery stores. But with the rise of digital interactions, we’ve also seen an increase in loneliness. We no longer meet for drinks after work, or gather with our friends for game or movie nights. Meetings and social gatherings are now done virtually. However, simply put, we need human connection. Connecting with others on a physical and emotional level can improve our health and overall well-being.
Human connection is the sense of closeness and belongingness a person can experience when having supportive relationships with those around them. Connection is when two or more people interact with each other and each person feels valued, seen, and heard. There’s no judgment, and we feel stronger and nourished after engaging with them. Human connection can be a chat over coffee with a friend, a hug from a partner after a long day, or a hike in the woods with a family member. Connecting with someone doesn’t have to always include words, either. Time spent in relative closeness and experience can also be a bonding experience. Our day-to-day lives are busy. We spend our days balancing between endless meetings, school activities, and family responsibilities. On top of that, we try to squeeze in exercise and running errands. This leaves us with no time to connect. In a world of more virtual than physical interactions, human connection is now more important than ever. Social connections can offer a number of mental health benefits, such as boosting mood, reducing stress, and improving self-esteem. On the contrary, social isolation contributes to depression, insomnia, and cognitive decline. A lack of human connection has been found to be more harmful than even obesity and smoking. Further, loneliness has been shown to impact not only our physical health but our emotional health, too.
When we reconnect with friends, whether that’s through a quick phone call or on a nature hike, we can go through a multitude of emotions. We’re either laughing, crying, or chatting. When we express these emotions, we feel good and happy. Besides, helping others is a rewarding way to build friendships and connect with others. Routine interaction is a great way to get comfortable with socializing and getting to know others, such as joining a local group, a book club or hiking group that meets regularly. Common interests are a great way to bond and form relationships. In fact, regular contact deepens our connections with others and ensures that we don’t lose touch with those we value most. Moreover, regardless of any types of relationships, a hug can go a long way. Touch also can deepen our relationship bonds.
It’s never too late to engage in human connections. The benefits can have a lasting impact on our mood and stress levels. No one has to connect socially in the same way. We really try our best to find good ways to connect people in our own unique lifestyles. Though different cultures have different beliefs about how important social connection and interdependence are to our lives, actually in the whole world, we can give us an unparalleled ability to cooperate and collaborate with others. We tend to have the same beliefs and values as those of the people around us, so it is not hard for us to connect people. Creating deeper connections even helps us feel better. We gain the most pleasure from connecting with people who are in our groups. When we share our personal lives, our deeper thoughts and feelings, we create stronger bonds with people. The act of trusting someone has them trust us back. When we connect with people we already trust and work on things together, we create shared experiences and shared goals. We share good ideas, and help everyone take better care of themselves. The more we find ways to stay connected, whether through humor, virtual happy hours, or sharing our personal lives at home with our peers, the healthier we will all be.
Socially people connections are not only so nice to have; they are but also a primary need for our humans. People connection is a deep bond that’s formed between people when they feel seen and valued. Through connections, people exchange positive energy with one another and build trust. It also includes our desires for interpersonal relationships and intimacy to connect with others, and to be integrated into a group. Studies show that having a strong support system helps people overcome challenges more easily and maintain a state of mental well-being. Many people might experience or have experienced a lack of human connection at some point in their lives. However, the key to overcoming loneliness and living a more fulfilling, happier life is to challenge ourselves and look for opportunities to build genuine connections with those around us. This can be anything from joining a club, reconnecting with an old friend, or volunteering for a cause we believe in. Therefore, just do it right now to build connections with people around you. It is worth it!

  • Be Generous

    Be Generous
Generosity is the act of being kind, selfless, and giving to others. Despite being an act that is done to benefit others’ well-being (福利), generosity also paradoxically increases our well-being. So being generous is a fantastic way to improve our mental health and well-being. First of all, generosity is a good thing for our mental health and well-being because when we give to someone we care about, we make it more likely (極可能) for them to give to us, making us more likely to give to them, and so on. As a result, regions of our brain associated with pleasure, social connection, and trust light up, making us feel all warm. When it comes to improving our happiness and well-being, generosity is a good choice because it has a ripple effect. If someone else sees us do something kind or generous, it actually makes them more likely to be generous, too. Secondly, generosity creates positive thinking. Positive thinking, like gratitude, joy, or awe, make us more likely to give. The happier we feel when we give, the more likely we are to give to others again in the future. And the more grateful we are, in general, the more we enjoy the experience of witnessing other people benefiting from our gifts. So if we’re having a hard time being more generous, we can benefit from developing our positive thinking skills. Our positive thinking really makes us feel happier. Moreover, when we feel happier having positive thinking and giving to others than spending money on ourselves, we make us more likely to become generous persons.
Once we are open to trying to become more generous (to increase either our own happiness or the happiness of others), we could give gifts on holidays and acknowledge accomplishments. We can also practice random acts of kindness, for example, by leaving a kind note for a co-worker, emailing a family member to tell them we’re grateful for something they did, or buying lunch for a friend. The more we believe that what we give will be valuable or useful to others, the better it feels. And the more we know about how the receiver will use the gift, the more we enjoy giving. At Last, we really know not only that we are making a difference, but how we are making a difference. In other words, when we give gifts thoughtfully and intentionally, we don’t just feel better, we are more valuable to us and to others.
