The 11th Circuit Court of Appeals lifted a previous ruling that prevents bans against puberty blockers and hormones for transgender youth. Not the first ban to the chagrin of medical experts. They say this treatment is beneficial to trans children, not harmful.
This decision isn't just about medical care, it's about rights and choices.
The supposed party of small government continues to meddle in the lives of others. They are insistent this is an enormous issue, with millions of parents forcing their children to change gender for no reason. It's disgusting how they frame it as if the problem is parents forcing this on kids.
The truth is, only a very small percentage of children receive gender affirming care of any type. This is done with the help and guidance of therapists, counselors, and doctors at their parents discretion.
Studies on transgender kids show that children as young as five have questioned their gender. Gender affirming care being received and being accepted by their parents improved their outcome because they were getting affirmation that they're okay being who they are.
We hear the argument from bigots that the reason trans kids are depressed and want to commit suicide is because they're trans. No, the reason suicide, depression, anxiety, and substance abuse goes up with these kids is because they're being told that they have to suppress who they are.
These kids need acceptance and access to care. If you really care about kids then you take care of their needs. Take care of their health, take care of their identity so they can grow up to be loving compassionate productive people.
Trans children that receive treatment actually have less mental health problems. Reports of thoughts of suicide, and the suicide rate both drop dramatically. The University of Melbourne found gender-affirming therapy to cut in half suicidal ideation within the first three months after starting.
But the hate-mongers want to make sure that kids who are seeking help can't access it. They want to force you to follow their religious and political ideologies. They fight this wokism boogeyman every chance they get. Even when the price is a doubled suicide rate.
It requires school counselors to notify parents when a child tells them they might be transgender. A horrible violation of freedom. Also, doctors who violate this law faces up to 10 years of in prison.
The effect this is having on trans children of Alabama is impossible to fathom. When you live in a state that actively hates you. The reigning politicians in Alabama see innocent children seeking help as their enemy. They have lost their way.
It's absurd this is the big issue to them, Out of the many needs in Alabama, how about poverty? A very real problem. Or perhaps the lack of good public education?
