The Albany Law Review, Vol. 84 presents its 2021 symposium: Grand Questions of the U.S. Constitution. 

Over this past year, we were faced with a global pandemic, tumultuous elections, and a fight against racial injustice. These events have raised important questions surrounding the U.S. Constitution. The symposium will examine how the Constitution has endured thus far, how it compares to those of other nations, whether there is a need for reform, and if such reform means altering the Supreme Court.

The Government Law Center presents its third installment of the 2021 Warren M. Anderson Seminar Series program focused on future elections, including registration, early voting, absentee ballots, and the need for reform.

Panelists focus on proposals for reform currently pending in the legislature. In addition, there is a discussion of election administration and the possible need for revision, noting some of the recent problems that have arisen. 

Finally, there is consideration of the new redistricting process.

Join this “First Mondays” Series program with Professors Ted De Barbieri and Patricia Reyhan to explore presidential powers, how those powers have expanded under both major political parties in recent years, and the consequences of the expansion of executive power. 

They welcome expert guest Prof. David M. Driesen, University Professor, from the Syracuse University College of Law, who will draw on his findings from his upcoming book, “The Specter of Dictatorship and Judicial Enabling of Presidential Power.”
