On July 11, China International Airlines Co., Ltd. ("Air China") announced that the company and its wholly-owned subsidiary Air China Import and Export Co., Ltd. ("Air China Import and Export Corporation") intend to purchase 20 A350-900 aircraft from Airbus.

The statement shows that the basic price of each aircraft in this transaction includes the fuselage, additional components and engines. According to the open market offer, the listing price of the 20 Airbus A350-900 aircraft traded totaled approximately $6.537 billion. Airbus will give Air China a larger preferential price in the form of a credit memo. Therefore, the actual consideration for this transaction is lower than the listing price of the aircraft mentioned above.
The 20 aircraft to be purchased are scheduled to be delivered in batches between 2020 and 2022. In addition, the last five aircraft have the right to convert to A350-1000s.
Air China said that the transaction will expand the transportation capacity of their fleet. Regardless of their potential fleet adjustment based on the market environment and their fleet age, this order will increase the transportation capacity of Air China by approximately 9.7%, based on the available ton-kilometer ratio as of December 31, 2018.
First Air China A350-900 Take Off
On August 8, 2018, Air China introduced the first A350-900 aircraft in mainland China.
On August 14, the first Airbus A350-900 aircraft debuted in Shanghai.
According to the financial report, in 2018, Air China introduced a total of six A350 series aircraft. During the four-month operation period, the A350 series had a passenger load factor of 79.71% and a daily utilization rate of 11.25 hours.
Air China believes that this transaction will help optimize the fleet structure and capacity supplement, and it is expected that the cost-effective performance of Airbus aircraft will be better improved.
Maiden flight For Air China's 50th A330
On June 12 this year, Air China opened a direct flight to Rome from and to Hangzhou. This is the first long-haul intercontinental route opened by Air China in the Zhejiang provience. It is also the fourth European scheduled passenger route opened by Hangzhou Xiaoshan International Airport following Hangzhou-Amsterdam, Moscow and Madrid.
The flight number of the route is CA731/732, 3 flights per week, and the schedule is Wednesday, Friday, and Sunday. The route is operated by Airbus 330-200, with 180-degree full-flat seats in business class, cabin-wide personal entertainment system, which can bring better flight experience for passengers.
Air China's Paris sales department announced that it will open a direct flight from Beijing to Nice. Air China will thus become the first airline in China to open direct flights to a second French city other than Paris.
Air China will open the Beijing-Nice route on August 2rd and fly the route three times weekly. Air China will also launch Airbus's latest wide-body passenger aircraft A350 on the Beijing-Paris route on August 1st.
