When aligned inspiration crosses over into copying.

I've got a really juicy episode for you today... Aligned inspiration and the concept of copying - it can sometimes be a bit of a grey area. When you feel a strong resonance with certain names or terms or content and so on - and there's lots of different people in the industry who might be talking about similar kinds of topics - it can be tricky to feel where the boundaries actually are.

So, we're going to explore this and develop more of a refinement and understanding of where our boundaries are, and how we can also avoid crossing over the boundaries of others. Because even though it is true that, sure, there's not a lot of new and unique content out there, it is actually possible to create something that is new and unique and to tap into your own creativity.

Does it take more work? Of course it does, but is it worth it? Yes, especially if you're creating something that you want to grow and run with. The stronger and deeper resonance that it has with you and the less links it has to other people's work and other people that you follow and other people that you work with, the cleaner it's going to be as you rise and elevate in your business.

Business goals - how do you decide what to align to?

I'm so glad you asked! This is something I absolutely love to work on with my clients.
Clarity is one of the keys to alignment... And so is self-awareness.

Clarity and self-awareness really go hand-in-hand in this process. To create your goals and to start to align to your goals you need to be able to define what it is you want, and you need to have that level of self-awareness to be able to look at your life.

To understand what is actually possible for you at this time, what works for you in relation to your own priorities and your own values. And what it is that you are willing to do to make your goals happen. Or whether it's more of a priority to go with the flow.

When you're creating business goals, the first thing I'd recommend is to focus on a specific area. We might focus on money. So where I would encourage you to start when you're thinking about your business goals is to ask yourself the question: What is actually happening now?

The next thing I would like you to ask... How do you really feel about that? Does it feel expansive and light? Does it feel unlimited? Or does it feel heavier? More congested? Does it bring up anxiety or fear or worry?

In this episode I help you get underneath the desires and needs driving your goals so you can create goals that feel really meaningful for you.

Do you have an alignment problem, or do you have a strategy problem?

Such a juicy topic. This, by the way, is one of my favourite episodes so far and I can't wait to hear what you think about it.

For many of us, it can be difficult to tell. I want you to think about a problem or an issue, a challenge that you've had in your business in the past, or perhaps something that you're experiencing at the moment. It might be a launch that didn't go so well.

It might be a gap in your business where you feel like you're not making enough income. You might not be attracting enough clients... When you look at that, would you guess that it's more likely to be an alignment issue - something within you - that is preventing you from being able to achieve those kinds of outcomes that you're looking for?

Or, do you think it's just something you need to learn? It could be something that is more of a strategy issue. And if you were to make some really practical changes in your business, that would help you to move through those blocks and to create a greater level of success.

Let's look at each of them in more detail. That's going to help you to discern for yourself in your own business, what the issue might be. Or maybe it's a bit of a combination of the two.

Once you know what it is, the best part about that is then you can seek more support in that specific area, or support yourself in that specific area.

Upgrading your beliefs in business - it's a conscious choice.

Let's look at our beliefs and how they impact us. And consider which beliefs we might like to upgrade - and how we can make the conscious choice to do that. We can look at what our beliefs are without getting drawn into it, without overthinking it, without judging ourselves. We can look at the belief and we can identify that it's not working for us anymore.

Maybe it's something we've picked up from the past. Maybe it's something we learned in childhood. It's something that we learned from a parent or another significant adult in our lives. Maybe it's something we've picked up earlier in our career, maybe when we worked in a different industry. Maybe we've even picked it up from our peers in our current industry.

Whatever your beliefs are right now... You can totally change them.

First of all, I'm going to ask you to think about what is actually possible for you in your business. When you start to think about this, it can throw up some beliefs that might not be helpful. Start to think about what is possible for you in relation to your impact. That might be your impact in working with your specific clients and maybe even a broader impact that you could be having on the world. It's quite big, right? Then how does that make you feel and what feels truthful for you?

How do you align with your ideal clients?

This is one of my favourite topics and something I've been supporting my clients in since way back in 2009 when I started my business.

When I refer to ideal clients, I'm talking about three different things. 

First of all, we're looking at the qualities of those ideal clients. I'll go through and explain some of the qualities that you may experience and notice. 

The second part is the perspective that these clients might have. And also the perspective that you have which attracts your ideal clients. 

Finally, the issues or problems, needs or wants that your clients have that you really beautifully help them with. In today's episode we'll go through each of these in detail.

Do you need to create something new in your business, or do you need to simplify - and how can you even tell?

I'm going to share a personal story, but first of all, I'm going to ask you to think about your own business, and what you're creating at the moment. When you think about what's coming next for you, are you thinking about adding something to your business, creating a new service or a new offering, or are you thinking about subtracting?

Perhaps completing a course that you offer, or narrowing down your focus so that you only have a certain number of offerings moving forward. Perhaps letting go of old blog posts or letting go of old videos. I'd love to hear what it is that you are focusing on.

The natural response is: I'm going to create something new.

I'm going to invite you to do a little bit of reflection, and at the end of this, you might decide, "Yes, I am going to proceed with this new thing that I want to create," but you might've also given yourself the chance to have a different think about it and maybe even consider cutting some things back and focusing on what's already working well.

Are you ready to get off the emotional rollercoaster of business?

This is something we can all relate to - getting attached to our business and experiencing highs when things are going well in our business; new clients pop in, or you receive some great feedback, you've been offered an opportunity... And then feeling low, or feeling down, annoyed or irritated, if something less than great is happening in your business. You've had some cancellations, or unsubscribes, or a launch didn't go so well. Or, you put out a certain email, or something didn't go as well as you expected on social media...

We can find ourselves feeling up when things are good, and feeling down when things are bad. Look, it's completely understandable.

But let's talk about about how can we get off of that rollercoaster, and actually have more choice about how we respond to what are often inevitable things that are going to happen on a day-to-day basis. And have a higher level of well-being, overall.

We need to understand that these fluctuations are inevitable, and come to a place where we decide: "I'm going to choose how I feel, and I'm going to choose how I respond to this." By choosing how I feel, I'm going to choose how I come into my day and how I approach my work. I'm also going to choose if I'm hitting up against a situation or an emotion that's not making me feel so great. Maybe something that is temporary, in the scheme of things, is not a big deal. Then I'm going to choose to upgrade my response to that.

Dopamine and business alignment is about looking after the basics as we create and grow our business.

Even though these things are basic, we can easily set them to the side and deprioritize. If you haven't found out already, you might find out in the future that they can create problems. Let's tackle this head on and, if you need to create a plan to improve the basics, I'm going to help you do that... So, let's get into some emotional theory.

What's happening when we have those moments where we're overreacting - or going into brain fog?
You know, when our brains just don't seem to be functioning as well as we would like them to. It's a state of overwhelm or like going into an extreme or high emotional response in relation to our business... That's why I'd like to talk about dopamine - and how we can use basic ways to look after ourselves to improve the dopamine levels in our body and our brain. Which then leads to our brains working better!

We’ll talk about the three parts of the emotional brain and three key things you need to do to support better brain function (they’re not the only things but they are super important!)

I created this podcast for you. This is a space for you to come and have this really warm, lighthearted, fun chat with me about your business, and specifically about your business alignment, because alignment is my thing. And it is how I grew my business right from the beginning.

What does business alignment actually look like, and what do I mean when I am talking about business alignment?

I'm going to be taking you through a model that's going to help you to think about the different aspects of your business and to consider whether you feel like those aspects are in alignment with you and are in alignment with the business that you really desire to create. 

Remember, what is an aligned business for you is going to be completely different to an aligned business for somebody else. 

This is what I'm really all about; giving you permission, if you need it, to say, "This is what I really want. This is what I really value, and therefore, I am making these decisions so that I can support myself to create that because that is what inspires me." 

We're going to look at: 

• Alignment foundations. That relates to your own energy 
• Alignment purpose. Why are you actually creating this business? Yes, to generate an income. Yes, to help people, but what's really sitting behind that? What are the other aspects of that? 
• Alignment structures - business model, types of services 
• Alignment goals - what specific things are you working towards? 
• Congruence. Your words, your feelings or emotions, your thoughts and actions, and how in alignment they are with what it is that you are trying to create in your business, and what it is that you really desire.
