This series of Finding Joy Again wouldn’t be complete if we didn’t also talk about some verses in the Bible that tell us to have joy in our trials, which can almost be like stumbling blocks that get in the way – things we can trip over.
As I started recording, I realized I had written myself so many notes on this topic, looking at a few of these verses that talk about having joy in our trials that I ended up cutting it off to have a part one and part two.
Here in part one we will look at:
Next week we will look at a few more verses.
If there are scriptures that just don’t make sense right now, or seem to contradict what you are experiencing, it’s okay to be honest with God about it, and set them on a shelf for a while, including these verses about joy. The Holy Spirit will pull them back down to untangle them for you when He knows you are ready to see them through God’s eyes and understand how they can help meet you where you are at that moment.

Grieving Parents Sharing Hope (GPS Hope) is here to walk with parents through the darkness of child-loss, guiding them to a place of hope, light and purpose.
It is a safe place for anyone who has lost a child from this earth. There is no shame or judgment in where you are in this journey, including if you are struggling in your relationship with God or your faith has been completely shattered.
Facing child loss puts us on a very long, unwanted journey. Not only do we feel robbed of our child, but we feel robbed of who we were as a parent and as a person.
One of the things that seems to take the longest to find again, after the death of our child, is joy.
In today’s episode from the Finding Joy Again series, we talk about six steppingstones that can help us with getting beyond the darkness to restoring joy in our lives.
Yes, it is possible to have joy and laughter in your life again. Not only is it possible, but it is needed to be able to live in a way that honors the life of your child.

God promises that we can have joy in our lives, and there doesn’t seem to be any parameters or limits on which of life’s circumstances (or tragedies) don’t qualify.
We are the ones who have to decide that we want joy back in our lives again and be willing to work for it after the death of our child.
How do we do that? Especially when we aren’t sure we can get out of the darkness, finding hope, much less joy.
In this episode, we talk about a few things that keep us from being able to pursue joy, which has gone dormant inside of you. Even if you aren’t ready to think about the possibility, the things discussed when applied with God’s help, will get you moving in the right direction to find your way out of the darkness and to a place of hope, light and yes, even joy eventually.

This is the second episode in the Finding Joy Again series.
As I push for myself to learn how to have joy back in my life again, one thing I am sure of is that we can’t have joy without a revelation of God’s love for us. We must learn how to live loved by God, which is a struggle for many parents, after the death of their child.
We want to pull God down to our level of humanity, to try and make sense of Him, but that just doesn’t work. Because He is so much bigger than what we can comprehend, there are going to be answers we are not able to receive this side of eternity.
Feelings don’t equal truth and they fail, but God’s love never fails. We have to become vulnerable to see who He truly is and allow Him to love on us in this dark painful place, if we want joy in our lives again while waiting to be reunited with our children.

In this new series, Finding Joy Again, we are going to be digging deep into the topic of joy.
• What is it?
Before we can have joy again, there is a seed that needs to be planted; the seed of hope.
Most of us are familiar with Nehemiah 8:10, that the joy of the Lord is our strength, but chances are pretty good this verse hasn’t been explained to you in a way that takes all the pressure off of you and turns it into a seed of hope that can be planted in your life.
Listen to this episode as host, Laura Diehl, shares what God has been teaching her about planting the seed of hope that can be nourished to eventually grow into the fruit of joy. Not a euphoric happiness, but a strength that can carry us through the rest of our time here on earth while we wait to be reunited with our children.
