It's just Kevin and Andrew again this week and they are prepared to jump right into a new Universe, the DC Universe, as run by one Mr. James Gunn and friends. The opinion on the takeover is tentative but there's potential there and the guys discuss their hopes and fears candidly. Kevin also cover the new Blockbuster show on Netflix and, well, it's not a blockbuster so far... He then jumps on to the horror anthology, Guillermo del Toro's Cabinet of Curiosities, which he gives far better marks to. Andrew covers some great Attack on Titan content and also gives a quick review of the streaming platform. One review is great and one is bad. If you know Andrew, you know which one he's not happy with! As always, thanks for watching. We hope you enjoyed this week's episode. Next episode should be covering Black Panther Wakanda Forever, so look forward to that! Don't forget to like and Subscribe and we'll see you next week!
In yet another APNC first, its and AKA episode. Unless you ask Kevin. Then it's just a KAA episode. But that sounds less cool, so we'll stick with AKA. Which, for those not in the know, is Andrew, Kevin, and Andy. This episode had an incredibly long pre-show, so we took the Andor piece from that and gracefully edited it into the later part of the show. Is it a smooth transition? Who knows. No one is getting paid for this! The show as you will see it begins with another horror film, Hereditary. The guys watched this as a way to counter the last "scariest film ever" with a different "scariest film ever." The guys all generally agree that this film was much deeper than Sinister ad and excellent horror film over all. But of course it was because A24... Next up there's an AA meeting (see what I did with the initials there) about Black Adam. Kevin hasn't watched and won't see it until it streams, but the AA's duke it out over the quality film. And if you think you know who loved it and who hated it, in the words of She-Hulk's Madisynn, "it's not what you think." After that, Kevin breaks down the films he watched on the plane traveling last week. None of them are particularly new, but all come with solid reviews. He discusses Everything Everywhere All At Once, The Unbearable Weight of Massive Talent, and Top Gun Maverick. After unloading on the films, he also discusses the new Hulu show, Reboot, which is also a recommendation. The show finishes off with the usual Andor, Thrones, and Rings talk, but may be the last time for a while with Thrones and Rings coming to their seasons end. I know, how lucky you are! As always, thank you for watching. We had a lot of fun this week and still kept the episode pretty tight, despite some meaty topics! Don;t forget to comment, like, and subscribe and have an amazing week!!
It's just Kevin and Andrew again after a week off. We hating taking time off, but they had a good reason this time. These two met in person for the first time last week at New York City Comic Con and you can bet your sweet butts they talk a lot about it! At the con, the guys saw Smallville, Star Trek, and Back to the Future panels and it was glorious! Andrew has some great stories from pre-con. There's a lot of Trek talk and Kevin revels in this being Andrews first time seeing them live. Finally, the discussion over Back to the Future is great. It really was a hell of a con! Back to current streaming events, the guys go on a horror binge and discuss Sinister (the scariest movie ever?), the new Hellraiser on Hulu, and The Midnight Club over on Netflix. They then finish it off with quick reviews of the individual episodes of the current hotness, She-Hulk, Andor, House of the Dragon, and The Rings of Power. As always, thank you so much for watching. If you haven't already, don't forget to like and subscribe. Also leave us a comment and let us know what content we are missing that you'd like to see more of. Hint: Pete tried out for Chippendales so that would be a real treat...
In an All Pop No Culture first, it's just Kevin and Andy this week. Pete really did try to make it, but a power outage at home kept him in lockdown for another week. Rather than going with a more regimented format like they usually at least attempt to do, this show starts out of the gate and is a complete "stream of consciousness" type of deal. All that being said, it goes pretty well. The episode kicks off with Quantum Leap (and then Leaps back to it later. See what I did there?) and then quickly moves on to a Star Trek/Wars tangent brought on by Kevin's Anson Mount sighting and the lates Andor episode. The guys then move into the usual Thrones, LOTR, She-Hulk segment, though Kevin is having a bit of a change of heart on She-Hulk for once. Weird... They then finish off with a spirited discussion about Deadpool 3. All in all, this episode was a lot of fun. The guys tried something different and it seems like it worked. Let us know what you think about how it went in the comments. As always, don't forget to like and subscribe and we'll see you next week!
It's just Kevin and Andrew again this week, but they are bringing some good content this week. The episode kicks off with Andrew giving a relatively spoiler free review of The Woman King. As you'd expect if you've seen a trailer, the review is overwhelmingly positive. Next the guys jump into the darkness with a review of the new Netflix series Monster: The Jeffrey Dahmer Story. Again, they stay spoiler free but do a good job conveying the tone of the show which is DAAAARRRKK. That being said, it's excellent so far. The guys then move on to the new series Andor, on Disney+. It comes off like a great addition to the Rogue one storyline and the guys are excited to see where it goes from here. They finish the show with a quick run through of She-Hulk (opinions are not being changed here) and the latest on House of the Dragon. As always, thank you for watching!! We love all the viewers we've been getting lately, but we don't know who you are! Leave a comment and then don't forget to like and subscribe. We'd love to get some more feedback. Have a great week!!
After a two week break, we're back. Well, some of us anyways. This week it's just Andrew and Kevin again and they have a lot to cover. The episode kicks off with a quick discussion about Morbius. Yes, it's quick because, well, that film was a turd. Pure and simple, When the show gets going, the guys have a fun exchange about Moonfall which just dropped on HBOMax. It's an interesting discussion about a film they should hate and maybe sort of don't? Judge for yourselves. The guys then jump into She-Hulk, which is quickly becoming a much maligned show, though Andrew may be more of a fan than Kevin. Next up is the new offering from Amazon Prime, The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power. It's a long name, but the guys dig it and the overall review is solid. It's still in the early goings and it moves at a different pace than the "competition." Speaking of that, they finish off with the latest episodes of Game of Thrones which is having a nice run. Both guys are digging the show and where it's going and there are a few theories bandied about. As always, thanks for watching. Don't forget to like and subscribe and, of course, comment! Also stay for the end of this episode as Kevin comes as close as he ever has to using his college degree to teach y'all some science!
While the kids are away, the grown ups will play. With Pete and Andy out this week, it's just Kevin, Andrew, and Kim left to put something together for you guys. Thankfully, the entertainment gods are being generous, so there is a lot to cover this week. The three of them jump straight into it with She-Hulk and the latest episode. There's definitely a shared feeling with this one. We don't want to spoil anything, but if you are absolutely loving She-Hulk, you may not love the gang after this one... Kim discusses the Ricky Gervaise joint, After Life, again in a little more detail and then proceeds to take the guys to video game land with a little chat about Destiny 2 and video games as an adult. Andrew takes a much deeper dive into The Sandman and discusses how his views on it changed as he dove deeper in. Suffice it to say, Neil Gaiman fans can stop making Andrew voodoo dolls. He then discusses the recent Dave Chapelle doc on Netlfix before jumping into discussing the Orphan films with Kevin. The Gang then closes out the show with a bang discussing the first episode of Game of Thrones: House of the Dragon. It's a great discussion and one that harkens back to some of the earliest days of All Pop No Culture. As always, thank you for watching! We are enjoying all the new visitors. Don't forget to like and subscribe. And definitely COMMENT!! We enjoy interacting with you guys and if we can make this thing better, we definitely want to. See you all next week!
This weeks episode kicks off with Kevin, Pete, and Andrew discussing Black Widow and the MCU, because why wouldn't it? After getting through that, Pete takes us down some nostalgia road talking through a few classic films he's watched with his daughter before jumping into his take on the now APNC classic, Old. Andrew briefly gives his take on Sandman. Is it a bit of a hot take? Maybe, but radical honestly is what we do here! The guys do find out, though, that maybe they don't know a thing about Neil Gaiman. Don't worry, they are definitely pop culture experts, though... That said, they get some education on the spot. Kevin then talks a bit about Lost in Space before Andy shows up in what is either the most seductive or the most disturbing manner imaginable. You can decide for yourselves, just don't report us. The guys finally jump into She-Hulk with Andy in tow and break down the first episode and a lot of the hubbub surrounding the pilot. It's definitely a lot of fun and there is some very (shockingly) insightful moments in there. Stay for the post-theme-song moment, too as the guys talk about D23 and then a magical moment happens that blows Andy's mind. No spoilers, but it's a genuine moment, kids. As always, thank you for watching. Don't forget to like and subscribe. We are at a weird ratio place where we have more views than subscribers, so if you are watching, why not subscribe? You know who you are. Just do it. Also, don't forget to comment and let us know what you like and what you don't like. Maybe you think Andy should invest in a bathrobe? Who knows!
