  • 22. Does Anyone Know Where Kevin's Pants Went? (I couldn't think of another title)
The guys get together for a relatively down week in the world of pop culture. With no major releases in TV or movies to discuss, the guys jump right into their streaming picks for the week. Opie let’s us in on a hidden Netflix gem, Derry Girls. Don’t get excited, there is no relation to Stephen King’s town of Derry. Next, Kevin tells us about an Amazon Prime original, and its even better podcast counterpart, Lore. Pete searches the recesses of Hulu and finds the Gilbert Gottfried documentary, aptly named, Gilbert. Alex finally finishes the conversation by ignoring HBO and going back to Prime for The Boys.   Talk of The Boys leads us to a quick segment where the guys rank some of the Marvel movies. It’s clear as mud and the guys all have some differing views, except for Pete who becomes the human embodiment of the Tomato Meter. To finish off the show, Alex gives us a review of the Larry the Cable Guy masterpiece, Witless Protection and then get’s back at everyone by having us play a game of his own (pirated) design. Have a listen and see who loses and is now next on the list for a horrible movie to endure.   Listen all the way to the end, hijinx ensue...   #allpopnoculture #hbo #hbogo #hbonow #derrygirls #netflix #netflixandchill #lore #lorepodcast #amazonprime #theboys #gilbertgodfried  #hulu  #marvel #mcu #spiderman  #avengers #superhero

The gang is back together this week and they immediately get up to their old, bad, habits. Pete really sets the tone with this weeks streaming recommendation, Mama Mia, Here We Go Again on HBO. Yeah, we were all embarrassed, too. Alex recommends a film, Triple Frontier on Netflix, despite the fact that it stars Ben Affleck. Gross… Next, Opie gets in his way back machine and watches The Big Sick on Amazon Prime. Kevin finishes the segment off with a quick review and light recommendation of The Enfield Haunting on Hulu.   After the dust settles from that, the guys get into the meat and potatoes of the episode: San Diego Comic Con. Alex discusses his trip and then the guys talk about the big reveals from the show, including Top Gun, Edward Furlong, Picard, and The Witcher. In the second half, the conversation turns to the big unveilings from Marvel. The guys talk about the casting and some possible plot possibilities. • 20. The Upside Down
This week, on the All Pop, No Culture Podcast, things go a little differently. They go, upside down, you might say... With Alex and Sam on a trip to San Diego Comic Con and some scheduling issues leaving Pete unavailable, Opie and Kevin are joined by an old friend, (well, acquiantance, really), Jen. Jen is an old regular from a previous show and she somehow has some experience with this weeks topic, Stranger Things. Alex and Sam have never watched and Pete is still getting caught up so it’s a perfect time to get 3 people together who don’t quite remember everything that happened and haven’t been responsible enough to binge the first 2 seasons before watching the 3rd and talking about it in a semi-public forum. That being said, the trio has a lively discussion about the 80’s, Demigorgon’s, and Mind Flayer’s. Enjoy!   #strangerthings #strangerthings3 #netflix #netflixandchill #upsidedown

  • 19. Joaquin Primex: He's Practically Disney
This week kicks off the usual way with the guys talking about their streaming picks for the week. Pete kicks it off with a documentary about The Price is Right (yeah, you read that right) on Netflix, “The Perfect Bid.” Alex coins a new, and very disappointing, term when reviewing “Don’t Worry, He Won’t Get Far on Foot” on Amazon Prime. Next up, Opie gives us half of a review on a movie he half watched (don’t blame him, the wife made him do it) on Hulu, “The Rewrite.” Finally, Kevin discusses a movie he actually enjoyed and can recommend on HBO, “The Old Man and the Gun.”   The rest of the first half of the show settles into a discussion about the current state of affairs in the world of Disney remakes and some of the most recent controversies. After the break, we come back to a new game, hosted by Kevin. Not to give to much away, it’s based around the popular Twitter hashtag, #ExplainAFilmPlotBadly. Alex probably enjoys it more than anyone. • 18. He Does Things Only a Spider Can
n this, their 18th episode, the guys take a quick trip down Streaming Lane. Kevin once again watches a movie that wouldn’t blow anyone away, Netflix’s The Perfection. Alex had Hulu this week and gave us a review of Colossal. Amazon Prime got the Pete treatment and he partook of the cinematic marvel that is Guardians (essentially the Russian knock off of the Avengers). Opie brings it back by giving an enjoyable recommendation in HBO’s Life of the Party.   With the pleasantries out of the way, the guys begin their real discussion: Spider-Man. They start by discussing their introduction to the character and then go through each of the previous cinematic iterations before settling on the latest offering - Spider-Man Far from Home. All in all, the reviews are positive with a few outliers here and there.   The guys end by going through some of the recent trailers, including Opie’s new soon-to-be favorite film, Charlie’s Angels. They also catch the trailer for Jumanji The Next Level and Mulan. Hopefully you enjoy this weeks episode as much as we did making it!   #neflix #theperfection #hulu #colossalmovie #colossal #amazonprime #guardiansmovie #hbo #hbogo #hbonow #lifeoftheparty #melissamccarthy #mcu #marvel #spiderman #farfromhome #spidermanfarfromhome #tobeymcguire #andrewgarfield #emmastone #tomholland #zendaya #kirstendunst #charliesangels #jumanji #jumanjithenextlevel #therock #kevinhart #jackblack #karengillan #disney #mulan

This week, the guys and special guest, Sam (AKA Alex's lady love), go all in on Pixar films. They begin with the new release, Toy Story 4, and stay remarkably spoiler free. This leads them, totally organically, to a discussion about their childhood toys. The second half of the show delves into the Pixar library and their thoughts on the various entries therein. They then finish it all of with a quick review of the new trailer for Onward, the next Pixar film.   Don't worry, they don't just burn the clock on rehashing the past, there's also the current streaming recommendations. Pete endured the live action Spawn film on Hulu, Alex enjoyed a fraction of The Predator on HBO, Opie found a hidden gem in Cop Car on Netflix, and Kevin actually watches the right service but goes against the grain and talks TV rather than movie with The Man in the High Castle. Enjoy!!   #disney #pixar #toystory #toystory4 #onward #80s #80stoys #transformers #gijoe #voltron #netflix #hulu #amazonprime #hbo #hbonow #hbogo #spawn #toddmcfarlane #thepredator #copcar #themaninthehighcastle

  • Brad Loves Dinosaurs
This week, the guys have their first guest, Brad, to celebrate(?) the one year anniversary of Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom. Alex takes the reigns and hosts the show this week. He does his best with what he’s given.   For reasons explained in the show, and inexplicable anywhere else, Brad tells us how the original Jurassic Park is his favorite movie of all time. The gang then proceeds to sing the praises of the franchise. Roughly 5 minutes later, after covering everything good, they go down their more traditional route of telling what was wrong with this epic saga. Enjoy!!   #jurassicpark #jurassicworld #lostworld #fallenkingdom #jeffgoldblum #dinosaurs #trex #velociraptor

  • What did I watch last week?

Gather round listeners, and hear the tales of the tales that we consumed so you don't have to. Kevin almost enjoys I Am Mother, Opie talks Murder Mystery, his review of Aladdin, and Too Funny to Fail. Pete spurs on a quick discussion about Godzilla King of All Monsters, The Crown and Jupiter Ascending, and Alex rounds us out with Train To Busan after some insight on his visit to E3.

Superfight makes a triumphant second appearance for a little family game night action. Tomfoolery, shenanigans, and hijinx ensue. No ballyhoo though. As always this is a ballyhoo free zone.

    Enjoy!

The fellas cover a little bit of everything in this episode: streaming picks, Godzilla, new Terminator: Dark Fate trailer, and some of the worst movies ever made. This one has a little bit of everything. Thanks for listening, enjoy!

  • Solo

Due to some scheduling conflicts, we couldn't record a new show this week. But we didn't want to leave a hole in your podcast hearts. Alex's disdain for Solo is real, deep, and often referenced. On Opie's previous podcast (Plan B with Opie) there was a whole episode on why.

About All Pop, No Culture

From the publisher's feed

Our first 81 episodes are what we now consider APNC 1.0 with our original crew: Opie, Pete, Kevin, Alex, and later, David. Through the onset of COVID and life changes, the podcast began to evolve. It was the end of an era, but we loved this crew and the memories we made. You'll notice that our earliest episodes are not on YouTube. The addition of video was never in the plans, but came to life as a surprise side effect of COVID.
