"Watch your thoughts for they become words. Watch your words for they become actions. Watch your actions for they become habits. Watch your habits for they become character. Watch your character for it becomes your destiny. " - Lao Tze
How often is it difficult for you to do the right thing? How often is difficult for you to forgive, release anger, release hatred, release malice, release shame and release angst? Often you and I believe we're the better person only we're fooilsly living digging our own grave rotting with the grip we have holding on the past. In this episode, I share my personal growth on learning to be the better person as means to become more like Jesus. When you know better, you do better and in doing better you become better.

Almost a quarter of U.S. children under 18 (23%) live with one parent and no other adults. In many of those homes, children are being raised by a single mother with no father figure represented. With the lack of fatherly representation in the home, children who turn into adults find it hard to trust and believe that a God truly can love unconditionally and care for them. In this episode, I use the movie "The Little Mermaid" to shed some truth about God's love, our sinful nature, and the redemptive work that came with Jesus' willingness to take on sin for you and me.

Benjamin Franklin once said, "He that is good for making excuses is seldom good for anything else.” In this episode, I expound on the wise words of one of our founding fathers who were wise back then to see the truth that many of our reasons are indeed excuses in disguise. If only we could see that the catalyst for change lies not in our outward circumstances changing, but instead, in the way we think, utilize our time and what we speak over our lives.

In 2013, Jason Weis and Kristin Weis founded The Demand Project to address the multifaceted fight against human trafficking and the commercial sexual exploitation of children. In the episode, Kristin addresses the why behind the what, as well as answers questions on what to look for, the importance of communication, understanding predators and victims and the importance of talking about sex in the home. Kristin also breaksdown the truth behind human trafficking, online enticement, child sexual abuse material and commercial sexual exploitation of children and how you and I can become advocates for those who do not have a voice.

Seasons change. Seasons change all the time. More often than we'd like. How do you respond to these changes? Are you stubborn about the change? Do you prefer to remain in angst about life not being the way you wanted it to be? In this episode, the idea of having a settled heart in the midst of changing seasons is addressed along with the consequences of choosing the route of having an unsettled heart and attitude; being too stubborn to submit to Jesus' will and too focused on self to see that you can trust an unknown future to a known God.

Are you compassionate towards a drug addict? Are you compassionate towards the family who lost a member due to suicide? Are you compassionate towards the man on death row? Are you compassionate towards the sick or ill who you disagree with politically?
As followers of Christ, we've compartmentalized and reserved compassion for those that fit our mold and whose life resume we agree with. We've become like the Priest and Levite who walked on the other side of the road leaving the man from Jericho who was beaten and robbed and left to die. We know not what compassion really is. In this episode I share my first encounter with "false" compassion and the cruel response we have as humans in whom we deem are worthy of compassion.

Sexual abuse of any sort is no easy road to walk. In fact, the church is still learning to walk this line. In this episode, I share the harsh reality that while there is sexual abuse within the church, it does not mean the church failed you. Man's decision is no reflection of God's heart rather the evil that is hidden within. Once that trust is broken it can appear unrepairable, however, God's greatness surpasses the unthinkable and unimaginable.
WARNING: this episode may trigger harsh memories for victims of sexual crime. If you are not already in counseling, please find help. If you are facing suicidal thoughts of any nature please call the National Suicide Prevention Lifeline at 800-273-8255.
You are not alone.
