What does Steve D think of Rory Stewart? Find out on this week’s PlayingFTSE Show!
Steve and Steve are in to talk about a big week in the US stock market. With Alphabet, Amazon, and Meta all reporting earnings, there’s a lot to get through!
In this week’s consumption news, Steve D has been learning about politics with a former Labour politician and a former Conservative MP. Steve W, meanwhile, has been thinking about fancy watches and how ESG might look if it wasn’t such a chaotic mess.
After that it’s on to stocks. The market didn’t much like Alphabet’s slowing cloud growth, but does either Steve think it’s such a small part of the business that Google’s parent company ought not to worry?
Amazon also put up relatively low cloud growth, but a strong showing in advertising services has investors feeling good about life. But would either Steve buy the stock at today’s prices?
Meta Platforms has been showing what happens when revenues grow and costs fall at the same time. Digital advertising is strong, but should investors still be worried about Zuckerberg’s infatuation with the metaverse?
And we’re finishing with Enphase – a growth stock that is doing the opposite of growing. Wall Street wasn’t impressed, but is a huge decline in the company’s share price an opportunity for an investor with a long-term mindset?
