American Real

Gift #1: FREE Download of Wise Guy: Lessons from a Life by Guy Kawasaki

Welcome to Episode #97 of American Real where this week I sit down for a conversation with the two teenagers behind the podcast, Real Talk University. Andre Haykal and Christian Bonnier are freshman at Binghamton University and have set out to make an impact on their peers by interviewing some of the most successful entrepreneurs on the planet who deliver wisdom about what they don’t teach you inside the classroom. They have released nearly 50 episodes and are showing no signs of slowing down. In addition, I challenged Andre back in the first week of January 2019 to write his own book and I’m happy to report his book is now complete, and is getting ready to go to press. It is rightfully titled, “What They Won’t Teach You: How Young Entrepreneurs Can Find Success Outside Of The Classroom.” I have learned and continue to learn from these bright-young-minds and I hope you too can take something away from them and tune into their show for some insightful interviews. https://www.realtalkuni.com/

WORLD PREMIERE EPISODE | DANIEL MASCIARI | STATIONED AT HOME

Welcome to Episode #94 of American Real. This week, we bring you Daniel Masciari, an up and coming filmmaker and editor with a focus on telling the untold stories of everyday life. Daniel describes his technique of using ordinary places to uncover beauty in unexpected locations. He is in the midst of producing his first independent feature film, Stationed at Home, and discusses all that goes into it. A true storyteller, Daniel provides an inside view of the film's storyline and the essence of the main characters; what it’s like to meet a stranger, getting to know that stranger and then going on an adventure with them finding magic in the moment—ultimately realizing they’ve been home the entire time. We discuss the importance of why he chose Binghamton as the area to make the film, the feeling of yearning it has, and how all of the actors in the film are Meisner trained with its "in the moment" technique.

Before you hear Daniel’s story, I want you to know my passion at American Real is to give you, the listener a voice and to provide you with the tools you need, so you can effectively master your own story. DAN KOSICK | WORLD PREMIERE EPISODE | I TRAIN SO I CAN

Welcome to our 92nd episode of American Real, where this week we bring you a truly inspirational story. Our guest is Dan Kosick, who at the age of fifteen was diagnosed with a cancerous tumor in his right leg. After consulting with the best doctors in the world at Sloan Kettering Hospital in New York, they recommended Dan have his leg amputated above the knee, due to the aggressive type of cancer. Because of the positive support of his parents and family, as well as his own positive attitude, Dan overcame his obstacle, accepting his new way of life. He went on to compete in high school sports and also learned to adjust and then excel in downhill skiing. Dan was so good, he was invited to the Paralympic Games training camp where he earned a spot on the US Adaptive Ski Team. Dan appeared in the 1998 Winter Paralympics in Nagano, Japan and the 2002 Winter Paralympics in Salt Lake City, Utah. Today, Dan continues to challenge himself, participating in Spartan and Mudder events. He is a brand ambassador for Merrell, an American Footwear company.

What I like most about Dan is the combination of his toughness and humility. He is a family man through-and-through, expressing that’s where he receives the most joy in life.
