In this episode, episode 9, I got to speak with Dani Cabs. Dani is a performer and photographer I met through something called Guru Dudu.   

Dani studied photography here at QCA and then went on to teach it. While teaching he was working on his honor's part-time and this is where his performance journey began. Since then he has performed solo shows at many fringe festivals here in Australia and also over at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival.   

Something unique that we speak about is Guru Dudu and Dani's passions there. If you are a fan of love and getting out of your skin, You'll definitely like this interview. As Dani says early on in the interview, he has a great journey for those who are later in their life and think that they can't make a change.

In episode 8 I speak with a friend of mine Scott Hazell. Scott is an aspiring cinematographer and a mature student here at USQ. In this episode, we speak about the state of Australia's film industry and the argument that Netflix is killing our industry. I ask Scott why he thinks producing a film is so expensive and also what he thinks the necessities for shooting your first feature film are. It was lovely to sit down with Scott and learn about a lot of the things that happen behind the scenes. Coming from an actor's perspective it was definitely handy to know. As another second Monday rolls around with it comes another episode of An Actor and a Mic. We've made it up to episode 6 where I interview Claire Bourke. Claire is an internationally traveled stage manager, who in this episode I find out is also a classically trained saxophonist. Claire speaks of her institutional training and how she went to both the Conservatorium and NIDA. We also discuss what is it like internationally traveling as a stage manager and the pros and cons that come with it. In this episode, I sit down with actor, director and vocal coach, Marcus Oborn. Although this interview touches on all three professions, we predominately discuss his vocal coach training. I met Marcus through my university degree as one of my lecturers and it was a pleasure to sit down and learn all about his journey. We speak about his beliefs around the importance of diversity of practice and about his leap into undertaking a training program under THE authority of vocal practices. A trip that took him to New York and was supported by the Australian Government through the Australia Council for the arts individual fund. Welcome to episode 4 of An Actor and a Mic. My name's Griffin Walsh and this episode I had the pleasure to interview Earl Marrows. he's a composer, with a passion for many other facets of art. His journey has taken him from Melbourne, where I met him, all the way to New York where he now studies a master's degree at NYU. He's a brilliant and funny man who clearly has a bright future in music. So I'm glad he's over in New York representing Australia's emerging talent. I'd also like to note that I had a lot of fun in this interview and despite not being able to ask very specific music questions, you get an idea of the journey he has taken and why he has gone that way. So I hope you get something out of this even if you aren't planning on becoming a composer. I hope you're all staying safe out there and not going too crazy. Episode 3 is my interview with Chris Sun. He is an Australian director and a writer of both screenplays and a book. Chris has a filmography of 4 feature lengths films and in this interview we discuss how he got there. Through his passions for horror, gore and special effects, into how he jumped straight into film making with no prior experience and finally, into how he got his films out there. We also discuss Chris's belief that Australian cinemas need to do more for indie productions and the industry as a whole. Chris is a testament to how not being afraid of who you are really can send you places. Welcome to the very first episode of An Actor and a Mic. This episode is of my interview with Blake Hohenhaus however, it really turned into more of a discussion around art. Blake is an acting student finishing his final year and a friend of mine. We discuss the place of arts in contemporary Australia, why we believe it's so hard to become an artist in Australia, our wishes both for the industry and for our own journey and at the end, I propose a podcasting venture I'd like to take with Blake this year.
