We're back this with another episode of More Than A Title, with special guest Hadji Williams.
Hadji is a copywriter that has been in the ad game for over two decades. He's worked agencies, big and small on all coasts and then some.
Over the years I've hit nearly every audience on every platform there is. If you drink it, eat, drive it, wear it, use it in your house he's sold it. Names he's touched include AT&T, Aleve, Absolut, Charter Communications, The Cleveland Clinic, Coca-Cola, Ford Motors, GlaxoSmithKline, Infiniti, Lowe's Home Improvement, Mercedes Benz, Nissan, Radio Shack, Rock & Roll Hall of Fame + Museum, and Wm, Wrigley Jr. Co.
He's from Chicago's West + South sides- by way of Mississippi parents--by way of
"The Great Migration" (a path many schools are ashamed to speak on).
One day a market research veteran turned Columbia professor told him that advertising"absolutely paid a lot more than 5-bucks an hour."
So, he put my graff-writing and rhyme-slinging on the backburner and dove head-first into advertising courses.
He landed his first BIG agency gig at the ripe old age of 22.
What came next was a 25-yearlong tsunami of brainstorms, wordsmithing, day-
drinking, night-owling, weekend-blurring, airport-hopping, brand-building, award
winning, award-losing, freelancing, adjunct professoring, commercial producing,
barrier breaking, moneymaking, money-losing, culture-mixing, culture-shifting and constant craft-refining, second guessing, job-hopping, industry shifting, industry imploding, career-changing, DEl-pushing, NDA-covering, life-altering decisions and insights that should be passed on to the next generation before I'm out.
Tune in Tuesday to hear this brother's remarkable journey! Catch us on MTAT Youtube, Linkedin and Facebook. Also will be streaming on the Alive Podcast Network App.
