In this New Year episode of Yoga Off the Mat, I reflect on healing, intention, and moving forward with care. Instead of traveling for the holidays, my family and I stayed in Kyoto as I recovered from surgery to remove the metal rod from my humerus fracture—an injury that happened in 2024, around the time this podcast began.

Although the rod didn’t affect daily life, it limited my shoulder range of motion in yoga, especially in postures requiring full overhead movement. The surgery went smoothly, recovery has been gentler than expected, and I’m slowly returning to my practice while respecting the body’s healing timeline.

I also share a glimpse of a quiet New Year in Kyoto and invite listeners to reflect on their own intentions. My intention for 2026 is simple: to learn and to give, while continuing to prioritize both physical and mental health.
