L'Opera di Dante Alighieri è probabilmente il libro italiano più famoso al mondo, ma la lingua in cui è scritto è il "volgare fiorentino", la lingua popolare del 1300 a Firenze, ben diversa dall'italiano di oggi, quindi un libro molto difficile da leggere anche per i madrelingua.

In this episode of ITALIANO ON-AIR we have a special guest: Ana Rocha, an Italian teacher in Brazil and our former student. Ana will tell us about her great passion for Dante and the Divina Commedia (Divine Comedy)! Dante Alighieri's Opera is probably the most famous Italian work in the world. Still the language used is the "volgare fiorentino” (Florentine vernacular), the popular language spoken in Florence in 1300, very different from today's Italian, it is very difficult to read the “Divina Commedia”, even for native speakers.
