From Gen. 9:19-10:32 I want to point out five key subjects that will help us understand why Noah’s drunkenness is recorded, the reason for the genealogy in Gen. 10, and how they both relate to the Tower of Babel in Gen. 11, so we can marvel at the wisdom of God displayed in His Word.

From Gen. 9:8-17 I want to point out seven characteristics of the covenant that God made with Noah, his sons, all humanity, and all the creatures of the earth, so you will know what the Noahic covenant is, the true meaning of the rainbow, and be moved to praise, thank, and give God glory for extending undeserved mercy and grace after judging the world with a flood.

From Genesis 9:1-7, Pastor Jack will show two main expressions of God’s grace after the flood, so that we can be blessed in the world in which we live, give God glory, and worship Him with gladness.

From Genesis 8:20-22, this sermon focuses on two aspects of Noah’s worship immediately after the flood, and the Lord’s response to Noah’s worship, so we can learn from Noah’s example, glorify God, and be blessed.

From Genesis 8:1-19, Pastor Jack draws our attention to four observations that will help us understand the events that led to the end of the flood and Noah and the animals leaving the ark, while providing practical application for our lives.

Our text is both sobering and encouraging. Sobering because we see the judgment that fell on the wicked, violent, and corrupt world of men in Noah’s day. Yet encouraging because we see absolute faithfulness of God in fulfilling His Word.

Now consider, if you are going to get into the ark of refuge, safety, and salvation from God’s judgment, several things need to happen: 1) You need a merciful warning of judgment to come from God; 2) You need to believe the merciful warning is true; 3) You need to have not only an intellectual faith, you need to have a trusting, volitional faith that acts upon what you believe is true.

Noah and his family believed and acted upon the Word of God and entered into the ark, they rose above the judgment of the flood. In like manner, all who hear the gospel of grace and place their faith in Jesus Christ, will rise above the fiery judgment of God to come.

Often when people are saved by grace and delivered from the wrath of God to come, they forget that they were saved by grace, that they didn’t deserve or earn salvation. They didn’t receive God’s mercy and grace because they were wonderful or amazing people. We see the same kind of compassion, kindness, and grace, extended from God to the ancient world of very corrupt, wicked, and violent men, through Noah and the ark.
