Brittany and Tyler Davis were the busy parents of a one-year-old who were looking for a night out together, and Brittany’s birthday seemed like the perfect excuse. They got the grandparents to watch their son, and they booked a hotel room in nearby Columbus, Ohio.

The couple met up with a friend, had drinks, and just generally let loose. But as they returned to their hotel early on the morning of February 24, 2019, everything started to go wrong.

Tyler walked away from the hotel, and despite phone calls assuring Brittany he was coming back, Tyler Davis was never seen again. Was Tyler the victim of an accident, or was it foul play? Nearly five years after he was last seen, there is still no trace of the young father. What happened to Tyler Davis?

A three-year-old boy dressed in his favorite Spider-Man suit was playing with his older sister at his grandmother’s house. Asha Degree was a bright, talented, happy 9-year-old living with her parents and brother in Shelby, North Carolina. She was an excellent student and the star of her basketball team. She was surrounded by grandparents, aunts, uncles, and cousins. There was no shortage of love in Asha’s life. But in the early morning hours of February 14, 2000, Asha took her backpack that she had packed with several changes of clothes and slipped out of her house. Several motorists later reported seeing her walking alone in a rainstorm at around 4 am.

After facing a lifetime of abuse and instability. 15-year-old Yasmin Acree had managed to become a bright, athletic student at Chicago’s Austin Polytechnical Academy. She was getting ready to start her first job, and her life was on an upward trajectory. On January 15, 2008. Yasmin went to sleep planning to attend school the next morning. But when dawn broke on January 16, there were signs of forced entry into her basement room, and Yasmin was gone.

Despite the worrisome circumstances behind her disappearance, police initially classified Yasmin as a runaway, and key evidence was overlooked. In basic terms, Occam’s Razor states that given two theories, the simplest answer is often correct. But in true crime, that’s not always the case– especially when it comes to unsolved mysteries. On July 1, 1995, Erin Marie Gilbert attended the Girdwood Forest Fair in Girdwood, Alaska. She was on a first date with a man named David Combs. David later claimed that he had car trouble and that while he was looking for help, Erin disappeared.

Combs initially cooperated with the police investigation into Erin’s disappearance but quickly stopped talking. As more of his story came out, the less it seemed to add up. So is the simplest answer the correct one? Or, is there a possibility that David Combs, who has never been named as a suspect in Erin’s disappearance truly had nothing to do with it?
