We begin this week's show talking about Carlos Rodon's no-hitter-maybe-should-have-been-a-perfect-game. Owen might be getting a promotion, and we continue to learn about how professional golfers get to where they are.
Our guest this week is Kelsey's sister Lauren Galluci. She's a former zookeeper at Brookfield Zoo here in Chicago, and she talks about how she got involved there, balancing caring for the animals and dealing with the public, as well as some HYPOTHETICAL animal escape situations.
Brady and Kelsey discuss the NCAA Tournament Championship Game as Baylor takes down Gonzaga in convincing fashion. We also talk about Brady's return to the office, and the beginning of baseball season.
Our guest this week is Jack Korzon. He's a young professional golfer, originally from the Chicago area. He's living and playing in Florida, pursuing his lifetime dream of making it to the PGA Tour. We get to hear about his experience, why he won't watch much of The Masters this week, and what you should focus on your first time out on the links this Spring.
After a long winter following a truncated 2020 baseball season, we've finally made it to Opening Day 2021! Brian Bedo of Da Windy City Cubs Podcast joins us to preview both sides of town and what we can expect by October. Also we've decided to give the Research Bitch some airtime! Brady's brother Owen joins the show for the first of his recurring segments where he'll tell us what we messed up last week and give clarification on things we wondered about.
Kelsey and Brady discuss their NCAA Tournament brackets, in which Kelsey will almost assuredly do better than Brady. Also, Steve Marsh joins the show. Steve and Brady have been friends forever! Sports, music, beer, and more!
It's the news we've all been waiting for...the Bears have a new quarterback!! ......but it's not who we were hoping for. Andy Dalton signs a one year deal to be the quarterback for 2021.
Plus, Kelsey and Brady talk with their good friend Kim Tyk, who is a nurse at Lurie Children's Hospital in Chicago and has been on the COVID frontlines since Day 1. It's a MUST listen, real conversation about her experience over the past year and the outlook for the next year.
Both sides of town will see butts in seats on Opening Day! Brady and Kelsey spend some time talking about emerging back into the world after a year-long journey through a global pandemic. Also, your Instagram suggestions were great. Looking forward to more!
It's getting warmer here in the Chicago area, which corresponds nicely with the beginning of Spring Training. Kelsey (Sox fan) and Brady (Cubs Fan) discuss. Also, it was nice to see the golf world honor Tiger the way they did after his car crash last week. Finally, both Kelsey and Brady have spent multiple summers working at Arlington Park, and spend some time talking about the impact it's had on their lives and what this summer might look like at the track.
Who knew Kelsey would be such a hit as a co-host? JK I saw that coming from a mile away. Not a whole lot happening in the world of sports when we recorded this, but since then the major news has been Tiger Woods' car accident and injuries. Here's hoping the Big Cat is able to fully recover from his injuries and get back to doing what he loves to do. Say what you want about Tiger the person, but golf is so much fun to watch when he's playing well and in the hunt on Sunday.
In this episode, Kelsey and I visit with my friend Scotty Balcer. He's a softball teammate and host of his own podcast called Scotty's World. We reminisce, being 90's kids, about our favorite sports movies growing up, the Marvel Universe, and much more!
Since we last spoke, Carson Wentz hasn't been traded, and Jake Arrieta came back to the Cubs, blah blah blah...
I have a co-host!! I got a text last week from a friend of mine who decided that I needed a co-host, and she decided to join me going forward. In all honesty I thought this would be a shorter episode, but in hindsight I should have known that this would end up being the longest episode to date. Her name is Kelsey Loughlin, we've known each other for 20+ years and she's married to one of my closest friends. I think you'll like her.
We spent some time going down memory lane, and then actually discussing a sports-ish topic. The National Anthem and sports has been in the news recently, so we took a bit of a deep dive into the history of the relationship between the two, and whether we think anything will come of this recent debate.
