Going to see Santa at malls this year is going to be very different.
Santa will be behind a plexiglass protection shield when you visit him and you won't be able to sit on his lap. You can still tell him what you want for Christmas but it will be at a 6 foot distance.
PREIT announced yesterday that the following malls will be using this experience: at Fashion District Philadelphia, Cherry Hill Mall, Moorestown Mall, Plymouth Meeting Mall, Exton Square, and Willow Grove Park Mall.

Teachers should be honored more than usual these days. With remote learning and all the protocols happening at schools, it is tough to just teach the kids.
Well, here is a story about a superhero teacher.
Jennifer Petersen teaches German at a California school. Like many other schools, this school is remote learning. She was finished with her lesson but was waiting for all of the students in her class to sign off. She noticed that 2 of her students did not immediately sign off like the students normally do.
She noticed that their faces went from concern to panic and then the students started yelling for help.
That's because a stranger broke into the students house prompting Jennifer to call 911. The intruder ran out the back door and jumped over the fence. Jennifer stayed on the Zoom call with the students until police arrived.
Police tracked down the man and arrested him immediately.

Alyssa sent in her nomination a few days ago and Andie just read it live on the air.... Here is Alyssa's beautiful nomination:
We all have that one person we look up to, someone who is our role model, has our heart & who we would do anything for. That person is my mother. My mom raised me on her own. I’m 28 now, an only child, & she is still my best friend to this day. We’ve been through a lot together. Countless moves, evictions, she went without necessities to make sure that I had food in my stomach & as much of a normal childhood as possible, despite financial concerns & no father in my life.
Two months ago, my mom was diagnosed with breast cancer. I always had a “not me” mentality, & as if 2020 hasn’t been bad enough, I didn’t know how to handle this news. Her genetic testing came back positive, meaning the cancer is likely to return. Together, she & I decided that a double mastectomy was the best decision. Along with the procedure comes doctor copays, a surgical copay, new clothing & bras needed, meals, etc. I have been unemployed for months because of Covid & haven’t been able to financially support her so in only one day, I raised enough money from friends, which covered some expenses she has been sick worrying about. I’m amazed by how kind people are, it’s truly heartwarming.
A few weeks ago, my mom had her six hour long surgery, including reconstruction. She’s been staying with me so I can help care for her & the dog, keep her company & love her. We’d been waiting on the pathology reports which tells us if my mom will need further treatment ie radiation or chemo. We received the call recently & my mom is CLEAR! NO MORE CANCER! This year has been full of challenges & obstacles, but the truth is, facing cancer with my mother has been a life changing experience. We are so humbled & thankful for each day. If there’s anything to take away from her battle with cancer, it’s to be positive & never give up.

Jordan Reeves is a 14-year-old girl from Missouri who has inspired millions of people with her extraordinary “superpower.”
She was born with a left arm that stopped developing beyond the elbow. Although some people would look at her under-developed limb as just a disability, Jordan used her condition to launch her superhero alter ego.
When she was 10 years old, Jordan attended a STEM workshop that encouraged kids with disabilities to think creatively about their condition. So she did just that!
She designed her own prosthetic arm that could shoot glitter from the tip.
She calls it Project Unicorn and has appeared on Shark Tank and the Kelly Clarkson Show.

Dawn is nominating her sister Claudia....
My sister Gloria is a breast cancer survivor. She's 46 now, diagnosed 2 years ago, and currently cancer free. Praise God. My sister never complained when she went through her treatments, or surgery. She held down a part time AND full time job, and still continued to take care of her young daughter and husband. The day she found out she had breast cancer, she sent me and my other sister, a screenshot of her results. I can't imagine calling and saying that out loud, to anyone. So she didn't either.
I was standing at the stove, starting dinner, when the text came across my phone. Initially, yes, my heart skipped a beat, and I broke down. I was scared for her, (especially having lost my mom 5 years earlier, from lung cancer, but also ironically, with stage IV breast cancer) - I caught my breath, regained my composure, and called my younger sister, Tammy.
She and I talked briefly, after getting that text, and decided to do what we knew best. We headed over to Gloria's house to process the news with her. We grabbed tacos and booze, on the way, and we had a night on her patio, joking about things. Which, to most, would seem odd or not appropriate, but that's how we handle things in our family. Humor and laughter. But no one ever fights alone in our family. That's our motto.
Gloria also has severe Crohn's disease, so she's been through some serious health issues in the past. This was just another challenge that she faced with courage and strength, and few complaints, if any. I believe every cancer survivor should be celebrated, and deserves this recognition, but I'm nominating the one closest to my heart.
I pray for continued, fervent research so we have more stories of survival and, God willing, a CURE someday. *Thank you for this opportunity* - Dawn Lipomi
