The fishing has been good on all fronts with the catch reports heating up along with the weather. We are heading for some windy months so be prepared...Offshore: The offshore fishing has been mainly based on bottom fishing for the past few weeks and for good reason. The yellowtail has been putting some serious bends in the rods!Rock and surf: The rock and surf fishing has been interesting... The fish have been around, but the fishing has been tough. Put the time in and you will reap the rewards.Freshwater: The trout are still doing well, despite the rivers being closed; the bass are eating everything, as usual; and the carp are vacuuming up most baits. This year is flying past...The cooler weather is being broken by some warmer spells in Durban.  And poof! July is pretty much gone...The cold is almost gone and the summer months are coming.Offshore: The garrick and snoek have been the main fish caught over the past week. Cold...that pretty much sums up the last week. In terms of fishing though it has been rather hot! Kob, Garrick and even some inedibles! OFFSHORE: There has been plenty of fish around, just a bit of a cheeky shorebreak to get through and you are set...ROCK & SURF: The shore angling has been an edible-focused week. The winter chill is heavy in the air! The weather might be cold, but the fishing is hot.Offshore: Offshore the fishing has been a mix of bottom fishing when the gamefish go quiet and chaos when the drags start screaming.Rock and Surf:  The rains have put an abrupt stop to the sardine's movement north. The fish have more than likely pushed out in to the deep, but we will have to wait and see...Freshwater:  The dams and rivers have been fishing very well for most of the facets. The trout and Scalies have kept the fly fisherman happy while the bass and carp keep the lure and baits guys busy. Vinesh's website

Just like that we are over the halfway mark for 2023...The sardines are still around in big numbers, but the rains will slow down the action for a few days.Offshore: The offshore has been up and down. The seas have been choppy but those that have launched have landed some good fish.Rock and Surf:  Most of the shore-based anglers have focussed on the sardine action. There have been good nets pulled with some decent fish landed, let's hope the recent rain doesn't destroy the action.Freshwater: The freshwater fishing has been good for those braving the cold mornings. The month of June is running away (well done Comrades runners). The freshwater fishing has picked up in the berg and the sards are finally here.Offshore: The offshore has been a good mix of gamefish and bottoms. Let's hope the sardines bring with them more gamefish and some exciting action.Rock and Surf: As you have all seen, the sardines are here! This is fantastic news and we can only hope the run brings with it a ton of fantastic catches.Freshwater: There is spawning activity in most of the trout stillwaters which is heart-stopping music. Winter is here! The cold weather and winter swell has arrived. The fishing has continued on all fronts with some decent fish being caught.Offshore: The winter swell has started and has made launching in some spots a little sketchy. Remember that the bigger swells generally have bigger breaks between the sets so just be patient and don't rush.Rock and Surf: The winter weather has slowed the inedible fishing down quite drastically, but the edibles have started to fill the catch reports.Freshwater: The winter weather is pretty much here and the need for a beanie and jacket is paramount in the early mornings.
