And just like that the month of May has come and gone. The mornings are colder and darker but there are still plenty of fish in the sea.Offshore: The sea has been a bit grumpy along the KZN coast recently but seems to be settling down a bit.Rock and Surf: The KZN rock and surf scene is starting to feel the winter chill a bit. The action is becoming a bit patchy for the inedibles and some of the classic winter edibles are starting to show face.Freshwater: The freshwater fishing does not drop off in winter, it merely changes its focus. The fly fisherman make their move to the Berg, the specimen carp anglers’ dust off their tents and the bass guys look for their dropshot rigs. Vinesh's website

The strange weather has put a bit of a freeze on the fishing of late. There are still fish to be caught but the going has been tough this past week. Offshore: The bigger seas and heavy winds have made fishing on the boat a little unpleasant, but the bumpy trips have been worth it. Tuna and some proper Couta have all made it on to the deck. Rock and Surf: The seas have been a bit rough with scratching being the predominant method along most of the coast. That being said, there have been some ineds mixed in. Freshwater: The freshwater fishing has seen the main focus move from explosive bass fishing to the tranquility of the midlands and a fly rod. The Couta have been keeping the offshore anglers very happy. The shore has been a little slower but there are still plenty of fish to be caught, get fishing!Offshore:  The Couta have been keeping the ski and boat anglers busy with most guys putting in a concerted effort to land a crocodile. Rock and Surf:  The shore angling has been an edible-focussed week. There have been fish-a-plenty if you try hard enough.Freshwater:  The freshwater scene is getting busier as the weeks go by and more of the venues open up. With the colder weather creeping in, the choice to go fishing early in the morning has been a difficult one... Luckily there have been plenty of fish to motivate for the leap out of bed.Offshore: The deeper reefs have seen some good Couta and tuna on live baits. Down rigged baits have been the most successful. Rock and Surf: The edible fishing has been fantastic with some good Kob and Stumpies being landed Freshwater: The time for trout is now! This has kept the edible anglers happy while the inedible hunters have started to land a few Sandies...Freshwater: The dams and rivers are all producing fish with anglers blessed with a bunch of species available to them no matter where they live. Bronze bream, kob and big seas have been the news for the last few weeks. The bigger seas have made for interesting fishing this past week, but some amazing catches have still been had.Offshore: The offshore fishing is going well along the KZN coast. The further north you go, the hotter the action gets.Rock and surf: There are still plenty of inedibles around if you are looking for some back-breaking fights. For those who prefer the finer art of edible fishing, there are lots of fish to be caught. Freshwater: The freshwater scene has been filled with good catches of all species.
