We have made it through the first month of 2023 with very little drama and quite a lot of fish being caught. The year is looking good!Offshore:  With all the warm water, the fishing has been a bit slow. Luckily the pockets of colder water have held a lot of Couta which the skis have taken full advantage of.Rock and surf:  The summer heat has been vicious. The conditions have lined up beautifully for the flatfish and sharks which most rock and surf anglers took advantage of this past week. Freshwater:  The freshwater scene has seen a lot of good fish recently. The carp and bass fishing are going well for all the anglers involved while the trout fishing has dipped a bit, but still produces some surprise catches. Vinesh's website

The heat has been oppressive, but the sea has been producing some proper fish. Offshore: The offshore fishing has been wild. The gamefish have been keeping the reels screaming while the bottoms have kept the sticks bent. Rock and surf: The heat of January has been beating down. The flatfish have been taking no prisoners along the north coast so make sure you are ready before you throw your bait.Freshwater:  The dams and rivers have dropped down a bit after the massive rains we had. With a real mix of weather to start the year off, we have seen a mix of success in all facets. Offshore: There have been some amazing fish caught in the offshore facet recently. The water is starting to clear… Rock and surf: The fishing has been very focused on the big inedible and for this most anglers have travelled north.  Freshwater:  The rains have filled most of the dams. With schools being in full swing from next week and the morning traffic being chaos, it pays to get out early and fish. This means you beat traffic and get to see the sun come up. Not a bad way to start the day...  Offshore: The offshore scene has been buzzing with reports of Couta that are finally making an appearance. The rough seas have however limited the number of days the guys have been able to launch.Rock and Surf: Chaos! This has been the message from most of the fishermen that have been fishing in the northern KZN.  Freshwater: There have been some great fish caught over the past week on all fronts, and with hardly a drop of rain to be seen on the weather forecast looking forward, it setting up for a great week ahead … time to get those lines in the water! What a way to round off our season finale...It is the end of 2022 and this weeks fishing report ends with the Summer action we have been expecting!Offshore: The offshore fishing has continued to pick up as we move further into the summer season. Although the spots are more crowded with the onset of the holidaymakers, the fishing has been fantastic along the entire KZN coast.Rock and Surf: With the summer heat comes the summer inedible smashes! The northern areas are on fire with the summer fish at the moment and some proper giants are being hooked (some landed).  Well, the year is all but gone and the Christmas carols are playing at full volume. If you listen carefully though, you can hear the drags singing with the sound of summer fish. Offshore: The bigger seas and heavy winds have made fishing on the boats a little unpleasant but the bumpy trips have been worth it. Tuna, a few early Dorries and some proper Couta have all made it on to the deck.Rock and Surf: The summer season is in full swing and the sharks and rays are testing backing knots daily. Now is the time to break your PB.Freshwater: The freshwater fishing has been good for most facets.
