Anime Out of Context

This week, Shaun has laid a trap: a new seasonal vs a revisit of a mystery show. Will Remington choose 5 episodes of Season 5 of Rent-a-Girlfriend (skipping seasons 2-4) or Yowayowa Sensei?

Meanwhile Remington can't stop stabbing Dylan in the leg.

This week, Shaun has had his fill of tormenting his friends for a while after he found Dylan lurking under his bed with a knife, so he's decided to show Remington 5 episodes of Witch Hat Atelier.

Meanwhile Remington should check his jorts.

This week, Dylan and Shaun have roped Mackenzie from AnimEighties into guesting on an episode, and Shaun decided it would only be fitting to show Mack something absolutely dreadful with 5 episodes of Medaka Kuroiwa Is Impervious to My Charms.

Meanwhile Mack drops some hints that he really wants to watch Bikini Warriors.

This week, Dylan has completed some dark rites & resurrected Remington just in time for Shaun to show him 5 episodes of A Certain Magical Index.

Meanwhile Remington wishes he stayed dead.

This week, Remington is currently suffering without air conditioning, so Shaun had no other choice than to grab Dylan from his cage & force him to choose an anime to watch based on a single descriptor.

Meanwhile Dylan somehow manages to bring up Amnesty International.

This week, Shaun was messing around on MAL (like most Friday evenings) when he came across a particular theme entitled “Love Status Quo” which caused him to crash out on his daki date & he eventually decided to have Remington watch 3 episodes of a random show that's tagged with the theme to see if that's a valid way to classify a show's overarching thematic elements.

Meanwhile Remington has eye drops all over his face.

This week, after spending some time looking at Dylan, Shaun was inexplicably reminded of one of his favorite shows from the Winter 2026 anime season & decided now would be an ideal time to show Remington 5 episodes of Journal with Witch.

Meanwhile Remington enjoys breaking children's spirits.

This week, Shaun has been feeling fairly vindictive lately, and what better way to work that out of his system than by having Remington watch a show he absolutely despises with episodes 2-6 of Toriko?

Meanwhile Remington seeks to find out what's in a name.

This week, Shaun's been plotting since our last episode and it's time to spring his trap with a devilish choice! Will Remington blindly choose a show from the same studio (Sword Art Online: Ordinal Scale), from the same era (The World God Only Knows), or one that references a joke from last week's episode (YuGiOh: 5D's)?

Meanwhile Remington really wants Dylan to regret taking a vacation.

This week, Shaun's been in the mood for some good ol' fashioned shonen from the dark ages, and since a fan has sent in their biannual reminder he finally has an excuse to show Remington 5 episodes of Blue Exorcist.

Meanwhile Remington's going ghost!
