  • 250th Anniversary of First Baptist Church Williamsburg
The historic First Baptist Church Williamsburg was founded in 1776, and to this day has a vibrant and active congregation. Many of its members are descendants of the original enslaved and free Blacks who met secretly under a brush arbor at Green Spring Plantation to sing, pray and worship. For generations, the true history of the church and its impact was buried - literally - under a parking lot in Colonial Williamsburg.
